Xander called after them.
Xander: "This isn't over!"
As the last of the intruders disappeared into the darkness, the light surrounding the cottage dimmed. Xander rushed back inside and opened the cellar door.
Amelia looked up, relief flooding her face.
Amelia: "Are they gone?"
Xander: "For now. Liam, are you okay?"
Liam nodded wearily.
Liam: "I'm just tired."
Seraphine examined him gently.
Seraphine: "He needs rest. Using that much energy is draining."
They settled Liam into his bed, and he fell asleep almost instantly.
Amelia and Xander returned to the main room, where Marcus awaited them.
Marcus: "We can't stay here. They'll be back, and next time with greater numbers."
Amelia sighed heavily.
Amelia: "Where can we go? We seem to be running out of safe places."
Seraphine unfolded an old map on the table.
Seraphine: "There is one place—the Sanctuary of Eldergrove. It's hidden deep within the ancient forest, protected by powerful enchantments."
Xander: "I've heard of it. Few know its exact location."
Marcus: "Do you think they'll take us in?"
Seraphine: "They will if they believe Liam is the prophesied one."
Amelia frowned.
Amelia: "But that's why we're being hunted. Won't bringing him there put him in more danger?"
Seraphine shook her head.
Seraphine: "The Sanctuary is neutral ground. It's a place of learning and protection. If we explain the situation, they may help us understand the prophecy and how to protect Liam."
Xander considered this.
Xander: "It's risky, but it may be our best option."
Amelia looked toward Liam's room.
Amelia: "We have to do whatever it takes to keep him safe."
Marcus rolled up the map.
Marcus: "Then it's decided. We'll leave at first light."
