I look up at him in confusion. “Did I miss something? Why all the growling and possessive posturing?”

“He said he begged to be taken to his mate, and the Light deposited him here,” Dante responds carefully, watching my face for my reaction.

His mate? But Ash is the only other woman here besides—then it clicks in my brain. I gasp, scrambling away from Dante’s embrace to face everyone.

Four? I have four freaking mates.

“Ah, hell.”

“Ah, hell is right, Little Flame,” Kaos echoes, running a hand through his dark hair as he steps away from Reed. He looks way less pissed than Dante does—more contemplative. Elian’s mask is firmly in place and I can’t get a read on him whatsoever.

“My father figured it out before I did,” he continues. “I didn’t know until I saw your face after I fell, but he knew. Apparently, after we met, I had a random surge of power, something that only happens with true mates. After he heard that a Circle of Night Weavers had found their Link. He knew then that the prophecy must be true.” Reed levels a glare on my other mates. Well, my other mates plus Elian.

Prophecy? Yay, more reason for people to try and freaking kill me. Or kidnap me.Reed’s lips twitch and he tries not to look at me but fails.

“Oh, did I say that out loud? Crap.”

Red opens his mouth to say something when Dante interrupts him. “Stop! Fucking stop, Reed. Stop filling our mate’s head with your lies. I won’t tolerate it a second longer.”

Once again, I’m snatched into a hard chest and I feel his body sway with movement as he tries to carry me out of the room. “Dante King, you better put me down this instant or I’m going to fillet you like a fucking fish.”

“No can do, Angel. You’ve had enough of this shit for one day.”

By that he means, he’s had enough of this shit for one day. I can’t deny my head is also spinning with all the new information.

“Wait, that’s not all!” Reed calls out and his voice cracks. Dante stops and his entire body tenses, awaiting his answer. “You have a snitch in your midst playing both sides. We need to find out who before they get us all killed.”

Dante snorts. “We already know, but we don’t know who it is for sure. Everyone is practically gunning for us at this point.”

Then I’m being whisked from the room and deposited into my bedroom with so many thoughts and possibilities swirling in my head I can’t possibly sort through them all.

Today is Friday. It’s been almost a week since the Kings took me in and I’m still no closer to uncovering any of the mysteries unveiled yesterday.

According to Dante, Night and Light Weavers don’t mix, therefore Reed being my mate is impossible. I’m not so sure, but I can tell he’s struggling with the idea so I’ve left it alone. Kaos is still working on his injuries which were way worse than we thought. The Elders did a number on him before he escaped.

Vinson is supposed to take me into town to get normal people food today and I’m excited to get out of the house. I need a sense of normalcy in my life, and by normal, I mean cheap food that’s probably chocked full of fillers and crap that is bad for you, but I’ve been eating it my entire life. It’s comfort food at this point.

Not to mention, I hate being cooped up and with the attack at the compound, they still don’t think it’s safe to venture there to test my magic. Although, Dante says we will have to go soon and find out anyway because we need to know before the Elders do.

I haven’t told the guys about the trip to the store yet but surely, they won’t be too upset, right? I mean it’s merely a trip to the grocery store, and they don’t own me.

“Can you help me find Vin?” I ask, stroking Goldie’s fur.

He bobs his head in a nod. “I keep track of everyone’s scents, so I can find them if we need them.”

Well, that’s nice, if not a tiny bit creepy.

“You know what? Before we go, let’s figure out a name for you. I’m tired of calling you Goldie in my head. It doesn’t suit you.”

If a dog can grimace, Goldie most definitely grimaces. “You’ve been calling me Goldie? That sounds so un-badass. What the hell, Sadie?”

“I know, I know.” I put my hands out in surrender. “That’s why we’re doing this now. Anything you’d prefer?”

“Something sophisticated will do. I’ve been called many things in my existence. Bedi mainly called medogwhile I was with her. Unoriginal if I do say so myself, but only my owner is allowed to give me a name.”
