Treasure was impressed that he knew that. “Did you watch the show?”
“I might’ve looked up an episode or two.”
It freaked her out to think of Greer watching her flirt with other men.
“When are you gonna publish that book of poetry you talked about when we were kids?”
She bit her lower lip. “Um, I’m not sure.”
“You should do it.”
“In all my spare time.”
“You’re the one who convinced me to do my videos. You should take your own advice.”
She grinned. “I’ll consider it.”
“Back to the cooking thing. I can put together a mean peanut butter and jelly sandwich.”
She scrunched her nose. “No siree, not with that awful crunchy peanut butter you insist on using.”
“I never could understand how you could eat that creamy crap. It tastes like glue.”
A chortle burst from her lips. “You’re crazy. Creamy’s the best.”
“Remember when Jillian made us those sandwiches?”
“And I thought the peanuts were seeds?” Jillian was the housekeeper for Greer’s family. She had a stern exterior and was always fussing when Greer and his partners in crime—Treasure and Laci—tracked sand into the house. But on the inside, Jillian had a heart of gold.
“Yep, you wouldn’t touch it.”
“So you ate your sandwich and mine.”
“I figured that was more for me.”
“That’s exactly what you said,” she laughed as she padded across the carpet in the den and folded onto the couch.
“Laci may be able to cook but think of all the contraptions I could build. They would make life so much more convenient on the island.”
“Like what?”
“A bidet toilet, for starters.”
Her eyes bulged as giggles erupted from her lips. “On a desert island? I don’t think so.”
“I could find a way,” he boasted.
“Knowing you, I believe it.” Greer was always inventing things when they were kids.
“I’m still holding out for that super-duper flying machine you promised to build.”
“Ah, the flying machine. We were gonna soar up to the castle in the sky.”
“Just beyond the clouds where we would visit all the magical rooms.” Greer was the one who first brought up the idea of a flying machine. Treasure spun a story around it, and the die was cast. It became one of their favorite daydreams.
He laughed. “Your room was grand and big with everything pink.”
“That’s right. I’m impressed you remember that.”
