“What—"
“Nowhere for you to sit,” Mac explained in the face of her wide-eyed surprise.
Away from our table, there sure as hell were plenty of vacant chairs in the room. Most of our brothers were at The Animal’s Den to see if any new girls would show up for the dance competition.
Leo settled almost immediately, and I didn’t like it one fucking bit. In my world, a brother didn’t pull a woman down on his lap unless she was his woman or a sweet tart. I scowled, wondering if Mac was trying to prove something, or if he’d just set his sights on making Leo his next conquest.
“As a matter of fact, yes. I’m looking for your president.”
“Wolfe and Ella stayed home tonight,” Val responded before anyone else could.
Leo’s face fell.
“What the fuck you want to see Wolfe about?”
Finally, she put her sparkling green eyes on me and wet her lips. “I need to talk to him.”
“About?”
She promptly bit down on that plump bottom lip, tugging half of it in her mouth and drawing my interest there. She was nervous.
I had a problem with her sitting on Mac’s lap, and I wondered if I’d have the same problem had it been Jillian. The brother was watching me with a smirk. A fucking smirk. Like he knew my internal struggles with wanting Leo. The fucker. I got up abruptly, driven by the need to do anything to get her off his lap.
“Follow me.” I walked away from the table, assuming that she would follow. At first I was heading to the room we held church in, but then decided to head to mine at the last minute. I’d listen to what she had to say, but if she thought she was going to talk us out of the money her brother owed Brew, she was going to be disappointed.
I didn’t know she was behind me until I came to my door. I opened it and ushered her in, then closed and locked it.
Her eyes shot back up to mine. “Why did you lock it?” There was a slight frown between her brows.
“Habit,” I said. “What do you want to talk about?” My gaze traveled down her slender throat to her collarbone, and I compounded my mistake by going further to her spectacular tits. Shit. Her sweet little nipples were hard, and it was obvious she wasn’t wearing a bra. I crossed my arms to keep from doing something stupid, like reaching out and tweaking them.
“Are you the one in charge of the money?” she asked.
I’d known this was about the bike. “When money is owed to the club it’s my job to collect it, so I guess that would be a yes. Why?”
She took a deep breath. “I was hoping to talk to you about the money Ron owes.”
I purposely hardened my expression. That was a non-negotiable subject.
“There’s no way he can pay it back in thirty days, Eagle.”
I didn’t bother beating around the bush. I didn’t soften my response. I couldn’t afford to. When it came to payback owed the club, it wasn’t about me and what I might want. “Then we’re going to have a fucking problem.” I recognized the worry in her eyes and wondered how far she’d go to get what she wanted. “Did he send you here?”
She shook her head vehemently. “Ron doesn’t know I’m here. And I’m not here to beg your club into forgetting what he owes. If anything, I think this whole situation will be good for him. He needs to grow up and start making smart choices.”
My brows shot up at that. “You didn’t feel like that in the beginning.” I wondered what had happened to change her mind.
“No, I didn’t. But you can understand why I wouldn’t want someone I love to get hurt.”
I motioned toward the bed. “Sit down.” I remained standing when she sank down at the foot of the bed. “Talk.” Towering over Leo as she stared up at me did something feral to me. A vision of her on her knees while she sucked me off wasn’t something that I wanted right then, but my dick had other plans. I’d been steadily growing hard since she’d walked into the clubhouse, and within seconds it was in fuck mode and throbbing behind my zipper. The movement drew her eyes there, and I shut my eyes and groaned silently, praying for control.
When next I opened them, Leo’s face was flushed with heat, her eyes slightly glazed over.
“Stop it, Leo.” Fuck, I sounded panicked.
“Stop what?”
She sounded innocent, but I wasn’t fooled.
