“The Wilson’s property. Maybe with a little luck some of Lola’s dogs will be there.”
“I thought they tore that old place down.” It had been abandoned for years.
“Guess the town didn’t get to it yet.”
We reached our bikes, along with Mac and Lynx.
“I put a call out to the others,” Lynx said as he jumped on his bike.
“Let’s ride!” Bear commanded, leading the way.
Looked like it was going to be a long night.
Chapter 16
Leona
It felt good being able to sleep in after my first week of work. I already liked working at the garage, and the job was easy. I planned to move out as soon as I found a place of my own, although I wasn’t too eager to leave my brother on his own because it was obvious that he needed guidance. I knew that I should talk to our parents to get their thoughts, but then I would have to inform them of Ron’s recent bad judgement calls. They would be so disappointed, and why worry them when there was really nothing they could do about it?
I turned on my back and stretched, kicking off the covers. The bright daylight streaming through my windows caused me to squint. Ron would have left for work already, so I knew I had the house to myself. I rolled from the bed, padded slowly to the connecting bathroom, and did my business before going to the kitchen to make coffee. It was the only drawback to being off, because on workdays the boys at the garage usually had coffee waiting for me in the mornings.
I made a pot and then leaned against the counter, waiting for it to brew. It wasn’t long before my thoughts turned to the happenings of the night before. I’d left the Soldiers’ clubhouse after witnessing that kiss between Jillian and Eagle hurt, confused, and feeling ashamed because of what he and I had done. I’d thrown myself at him without a thought that Jillian was the woman Eagle really wanted.
I wasn’t sure how far into a relationship they were. I hadn’t witnessed anything spectacular between them, not like the passionate kisses and steamy interactions that I’d seen between Bear and Val and Ella and Wolfe. Regardless, he should have shown more restraint and not let things go as far as they had between us. He was just as much to blame as I.
The problem was that I was immensely attracted to Eagle and weak where he was concerned. We weren’t together that often, but when we were, it was as if nothing else mattered but acting on our feelings. I could still feel the ache between my legs from his pounding. I liked rough sex, always had. I also liked orgasms, and Eagle had delivered, seeing to my needs as well as his own. He hadn’t been a selfish lover, and believe me, I knew a selfish lover when I was with one.
He was too good at what he did, and I had succumbed like a wanton slut. The itch I’d had for months had been more than satisfied by his cock, but now I was faced with the new problem of wanting it to happen again. With him. Ugh! I ran my hands through my hair and poured a cup of coffee, shaking so badly with my thoughts that I spilled some of it.
Calm down, girl, I thought to myself. I still had a trusty, well-broken in dildo, Rex. And then there was that little pink rabbit.
As I took my first sip of coffee, I heard my phone ringing. A quick survey of the immediate area didn’t produce it, and then I remembered that it was still in my pants pocket. I dragged my feet back into the bedroom and picked up my jeans from the floor to retrieve it.
It was Ella. “Good morning,” I smiled into the receiver. I really liked Ella. She was a happy-go-lucky extrovert, and easy to talk to.
“You just get up?” she asked.
“How could you tell?” I took another sip.
“You have that telltale morning rasp going on. Sexy.” We both laughed. “Sorry I missed you last night. Val said you were at the clubhouse for a little while.”
“Yeah, I went there specifically to see you,” I joked.
She laughed. “Well, the reason I’m calling is that we’re having a cookout later this afternoon. Everyone will be there.”
Including Eagle? I didn’t ask.
“Can you come? We live on the lake, so you can swim, too.”
That sounded like heaven. My thoughts immediately went to Eagle again. Did I want to continue putting myself in his vicinity? To torture myself like that, and risk the possibility of seeing him and Jillian together again? God, what a mess!
“Hello? Did I lose you?”
“No. I was just thinking about what I have going on today.” I didn’t want to commit in case I chickened out at the last minute. “If I can shuffle some things around I’ll come. Text me your address. Do you want me to bring anything?”
“No, just yourself. You can bring your brother if you want.”
I was surprised at the invitation considering the rough start he’d had with the club. “You mean my wayward, poor-decision-making brother, Ron? If he doesn’t smarten up soon, he’s going to need an intervention.”
