It grew quiet for a minute as Eagle stared at me with hard, unyielding eyes. I wondered what he was thinking. Even when his gaze flickered to my breasts his expression gave nothing away. His eyes on me made my core clench. I reached for the cup of coffee I’d poured for him and took a sip just to have something to do.
Why did Eagle have to be so hot? And why did his presence affect me so much? It wasn’t just an attraction. I’d had attractions to men before that hadn’t gone anywhere, but with Eagle I felt a strong urge to act on it. I almost wished we hadn’t had sex the night before, that I didn’t know what it felt like to have his hands on my body, his lips devouring mine. Because now that I knew, it took little effort to recall the pleasant stretch and burn that I’d felt when his big cock had entered me for the first time.
“So what did Lawrence want today?”
“He wanted to talk to me.”
“He wanted to talk to you?” He seemed bothered by that.
I nodded.
“You’re in big trouble, darlin’.”
Chapter 17
Eagle
I should go. The longer I was around Leo, the more I wanted her. Like a fucking fiend. I hadn’t gone to Ron’s place with anything in mind other than to find out what his connection was with the owner of that Jeep, especially after I’d seen it leaving the dog fight in Arrowsic the night before. A quick search this morning had shown that it belonged to Parker Wilson, who was in prison. Lawrence Wilson was his cousin.
As soon as Leo had opened the door and I’d got a look at what little she was wearing, my mind had shifted, and now I was having a hard time staying on point. Getting a taste of her the night before had been an eye-opening experience in more ways than one, and the fact that I’d given in to my urges had helped confirm that Jillian had been right about my lack of feelings for her, even if I hadn’t wanted to acknowledge it. But the more I thought about it, the more I realized that I’d been fooling myself all these months.
Maybe I had been using the idea of me and Jillian getting together to keep me from making another colossal mistake like I had with Mandy.
I reached for the cup of coffee that Leo had set back down after taking a drink and brought it to my mouth. I could tell that she was nervous. Her watchful eyes stayed glued to mine as I looked at her over the rim of the cup. My gaze shifted downward to her spectacular tits because, fuck it, I liked looking at them. The top she had on was lacy and hugged their shape perfectly. I could even see the outline of her hard nipples, and I practically salivated as I recalled how sweet they’d been on my tongue.
I warned myself to forget about her killer body, to forget about how good it had felt sinking my dick inside her, and to get back on track. I needed to stick to my priorities.
She finally cracked a smile. “You’re not thinking about all the different ways you want to kill me, are you?”
Her words reminded me that the stretch of silence between us had been too long. Apparently she was no longer nervous, but I knew I could change that in a heartbeat. “I’m thinking about all the different ways I want to bend you over this counter and fuck you.”
Her pretty eyes rounded and her mouth fell open.
“But I’m not here for that. When does Ron get home?”
She pulled herself together. “He’s working a double, so probably around one or two in the morning. Why?”
I could have easily said that it was club business, which we didn’t discuss with outsiders, but I didn’t. “Need to talk to him.”
Ron’s deal was with Lawrence could mean that he had information that the club could use. Last night’s operation had been small potatoes, but they’d had two of Lola’s dogs, which meant that there were other fights going on somewhere else.
“Just talk?”
I could understand the skepticism in her voice. “For now. But know this—he’ll be turned in with the rest of them if he plays a bigger part in this. We don’t mess around when it comes to dog fighting and animal abuse, Leo. We’ve been working with the local sheriffs for a long time to shut that shit down and rescue those dogs.” Shit, I’d already said more than I should have, but her eyes softened, revealing that she had a weak spot for animals.
“I think what your club does is commendable,” she said softly and sincerely. “I’m glad Lola got some of her dogs back.”
I nodded, taking a breath. It was time to get out of there. Wolfe and Ella were having a cookout, and I’d promised to get there early to help on the grills. “I gotta go.”
I turned to get the hell out of there and didn’t realize that Leo had followed me to the door until I reached it. With every step I took, I asked myself why I was leaving before I’d gotten another taste of her. My body was humming with the kind of arousal that would linger if I didn’t do something about it.
When I turned to find Leo right behind me it was as if I’d been given the green light, especially when I saw the look of longing in her eyes. Leo had expressive eyes. As I struggled with indecision over whether to stay or to leave before it was too late, my gaze slid down her body again, slamming home the need that I had to possess her. Knowing what was beneath her tiny top and shorts was enough to seal her fate.
And I was a weak man where she was concerned.
“Is something wrong?”
I wasn’t fooled by her innocent question, especially when she followed it up by licking her lips. “Not a fucking thing.” I reached forward and curled my hand around the back of her neck and jerked her against me. She caught her breath, her hands falling on my chest. My eyes zeroed in on her parted lips. I told myself to steal a tiny kiss and then leave, but the second my mouth covered hers, I knew I’d been fooling myself.
