I blinked, unsure what he was talking about, which seemed to amuse Eagle. “Meant to tell you this morning, but other things kind of got in the way.”
He didn’t have to spell it out. I knew exactly what he was referring to. After a moment I realized what he’d meant when he said that he’d talked to Wolfe. “He’s going to let me pay for the bike?”
Eagle nodded, ripping more meat off the bone.
“Thank you.”
“It’s not me you need to thank, thank Wolfe. I was just the go between.”
“I’ll go thank him now before I forget. Thanks for the chicken.” I dropped the plate and bones into the nearby garbage can and turned to leave.
“Darlin’.”
His sexy tone caused me to halt and look over my shoulder at him.
“We’ll finish what we started later.”
I surprised us both by saying, “Yes, we will.”
The look that transformed Eagle’s face was priceless.
I smiled all the way to the water.
Chapter 19
Eagle
Damn. That woman was getting to me quicker than I was comfortable with. I couldn’t be around her and not touch her. And those lips...so soft, full, and tempting. I watched the sexy sway of Leo’s hips as she walked away from me. I was still hard from that kiss. Fuck, I’d been hard since I’d watched her walking toward me. I reached down and gave my dick a hard squeeze to lessen the ache of not finding release.
“Fuck, Brother, don’t serve me up any food with that hand.”
I swung my head toward Snake. Hell, I’d forgotten he was here. He hadn’t said a fucking word when Leo had been there. I flipped him the bird and began piling hamburgers and hotdogs on a platter. I’d be glad when the chicken was done because I needed to take a swim to cool down.
“You must really like Leona.”
I considered his words for a moment. There’d been something about Leo since the moment I’d met her on the side of the road, something that went beyond my appreciation for her killer curves. But did I like her, or did I just lust after her? It was fucking confusing sometimes.
“Not sure if ‘like’ is the appropriate word, Brother.”
Snake threw his head back and laughed. “So lust then.”
The fucker had read my mind. I glared over at him.
“What happened to you and Jillian?”
I’d been waiting for that question and had wondered which brother would have the balls to ask it first. I snorted. “She proved to me that the spark wasn’t there.”
Snake began taking the meat off his grill. “You know she’s into Mac, right?”
“Is that so?” I had figured that out long ago, but I had ignored the signs. Mac wasn’t a one-woman man, which made me a real bastard considering all his time wasted. Mac hadn’t made a move on Jillian because of me, and despite that kiss the other night in the kitchen, Jillian wasn’t the kind of woman to make the first move. She was shy, sweet, and unaggressive.
Someone opened the back door to Wolfe’s house, and two Pitbulls emerged as if they’d broken out of prison, jumping and dancing around playfully. Demo and Daisy immediately headed my way, and I knew what they were looking for. I tossed them each a burger and they wolfed them down like they hadn’t been fed in a week. Then they hit up Snake, who laughingly gave them each a hotdog.
“These are two spoiled mutts,” Snake commented affectionately.
“Hey! Who let the terrors out?” Wolfe shouted from the water.
“My bad! Had to use the ladies room! They snuck out before I could stop them!” Hannah was making her way toward him and the lake.
