Footsteps and voices trickle toward us—muchcloser than before.
Shit.
I peel myself off the tree, turn, and kick off my shoes, forcing myself to break free from the post-orgasmic haze I would rather linger in for a while.
Branches crack and dry leaves crunch along the trail.
Shit. Shit. Shit.
They’ll be here anysecondnow.
As quickly as my wobbly legs will work, I pull my jeans free, then grasp the hem of my shirt and tug it off, too. Rushing toward the lake, I unhook my bra and toss it, just as my toes hit the water.
“Fuck, that’s cold.”
Blaine laughs, the sound echoing out across the glassy surface. He retreats farther, deep enough he can sink down up to his neck, and I race forward, practically throwing myself at him as the voices grow louder.
He catches me and tugs me up against him, kissing me deeply, his tongue gliding along my lips, demanding entry. I open for him as I wrap my legs around his waist, only my thong preventing his still-hard cock from slipping back inside me again.
“Oh, shit.” The voice comes from behind us. “Umm…”
I pull away from Blaine and glance over my shoulder to find Jax and my new friend Raelynn standing just outside the tree line staring at us.
Jax grins. “Sorry, I didn’t know anyone was down here.”
Blaine looks at him and smirks. “If you had shown up a minute earlier, you would’ve had a much better show.”
Gasping, I smack him on the shoulder. “Stop it.”
Blaine waggles his eyebrows at me playfully. “It’s true…”
Raelynn and Jax laugh, and she waves at me. “Hi, Annie.”
I wave back at her. “Hi.”
Blaine raises an eyebrow. “You know her?”
I nod. “We were chatting during the chopping competition.”
And commenting on how hot as hell it was watching Blaine and Jax go to town on those logs.
That part… I keep to myself.
Though seeing Jax and Raelynn together makes my heart swell. The way she focused on him swinging that axe, I had hoped they’d connect and end up in a similar position Blaine just had me in, and, given the glow in her cheeks and their entwined hands, I think that’s where they probably came from.
Jax motions over his shoulder. “We’re going to head back. Didn’t mean to interrupt, but just so you know, you may have some more company. There’s another twenty minutes before the next competition. There may be people wandering down this way.” He looks at our clothes strewn across the beach. “Do you want me to bring you guys some towels?”
Blaine shakes his head. “We’ll figure it out. You have enough to do keeping the event organized.”
I nod my agreement, fighting a grin. “Though, it’s clearly rigged…”
Jax raises a dark brow, his blue eyes flashing with concern. “What do you mean?”
Running my fingers through Blaine’s thick hair, I offer a shrug. “Well, Blaineclearlykicked your ass in the chopping competition, but I saw you came in first.”
A slow smirk curls Jax’s lips. “Whatever you need to tell yourself, sweetheart.”
Raelynn smacks him on the shoulder. “Come on, let’s go before you two get into someothersort of macho prove-I’m-the-stronger-man displays.”
