Whipping up sugary delights is my love language. From decadent treats to sugar-coated wonders, and savory bread, baking is my ultimate art form. Yet, despite all the sweet gestures, Becker Tallman seems oblivious to my syrupy sweet crush.
Becker Tallman
I have traveled the world as a roughneck, working on oil rigs with little human interaction. There is plenty of human interaction here in Driftwood. Might not like it, if most of it wasn’t from the sinfully sweet Bria, the prettiest thing in town.
I might be a roughneck lumberjack, but I know I can be gentle with a sweetheart like her.

Chapter One
Bria
Sunriseismyfavoritepart of the day.
Sitting in the shop that smells of cinnamon and sweet cream, I watch as the buttery sun cuts through the icy blue skies. Soft pinks and bright oranges paint the horizon with beautiful shades that inspire me to create a sunrise themed cookie. Oh, and maybe a sweet and fruity sunrise smoothie!
“How are you this way?” Mackenzie asks as she frowns over her cup of black coffee.
“I blame it on mom,” I offer with a shrug. “She was a teaspoon of sugar shy of Mary Poppins, after all. You got dad’s disposition with I would compare to Eeyore if we’re talking Disney.”
“Youtalk Disney. No one our age talks about Disney with the love that you do, B,” Mackenzie teases as she sips at the hot coffee before cursing because, as she asks, it’s indeed piping hot.
Popping a donut hole in my mouth, I shrug at her. Who cares if I love Disney? I find the stories endearing and the characters adorable. I also love a good soundtrack and who does that better than the mouse? No one. To taunt her, I go to my phone, queue up some Aristocats and sing along as I work on the sweets for today.
Chocolate ganache cupcakes with raspberry filling, white chocolate and fresh raspberry frosting, raspberry cream filled donuts, glazed donut holes and two dozen sugar cookies and shortbread fingers. Mondays are always about whatever fresh fruits I picked up at the weekend farmer’s market.
