“I’m supposed to hang out in your room until the coast is clear. What are we, teenagers?”
“I dunno. I never got to be one,” he said innocently.

“What now?” Trunk askedthrough the thick haze of celebratory cigar smoke that filled Wolf’s office, or his ‘den’ as he liked to call it. With Char dead, and the coup a success, the Spiders’ new President and Vice President had plans to make.
Wolf tilted his head back and exhaled slowly. “Now we do what Char should have. We go after the Burning Saints and anyone else who rides with them.”
“Where do we start?”
“We’re Spiders. So, we’re gonna spin a web and catch us a fly.”
“Got someone in mind, Boss?” I asked.
“As a matter of fact, I do,” Wolf replied before turning to me. “You ready to earn your patch?”
I nodded.
“Good, because an unfamiliar face will be a big advantage for us.”
“I’m squared away,” I replied.
“You’d better be, because I’m taking a big fucking chance using a guy I don’t know. Especially on something like this.” Wolf rose to his feet. “But you and Trunk served in Afghanistan together, and if he says you’re solid, that’s all I need to fucking know.”
“He’s more than solid,” Trunk replied. “Believe it or not, this scrawny fuck saved my life.”
“A decision I’ve regretted every day since,” I said.
“You and me both,” Wolf replied with a gruff chuckle, before turning serious again. “Look, it’s simple. Do the job, and the patch is yours. Fail or try to fuck me over in any way...” Wolf smashed what remained of his cigar in the glass ashtray on top of his desk.
I nodded in understanding.
“I assume you want to hit Sweet Pea first?” Trunk asked.
“I’m gonna make that motherfucker suffer,” Wolf replied. “I’m gonna rip him apart piece by piece until he begs for me to end his suffering.”
“Which piece are you going to start with?” Trunk asked.
“His heart,” Wolf sneered.

Sweet Pea
I stashed Callie inmy room and bolted back to the chapel as quickly as possible. I felt bad for leaving her alone but didn’t have any other option. It wasn’t like I could let a new face roam the Sanctuary grounds, especially as one as beautiful as Callie’s. By the time I got back, the meeting was over, and Saints were filing out the door.
“What the fuck were you thinking inviting her here today?” Clutch snapped at me as I approached.
“I asked Callie to come here because I wanted her to meet the BFK guys before they rode out,” I replied. “She’s all about helping kids and I thought—”
“You thought you could score some ‘nice guy’ points with the smokin’ hot lawyer,” Clutch interrupted.
“Hey, fuck you,” I snapped. “You were the one that was just bitching at me for not wanting to settle down, now I can’t even bring a woman around without you chewing my ass?”
“A woman, Sweet Pea. As in, someone the club knows. Not a lawyer who works for the D.A.’s office, for Christ’s sake. Minus and Cricket go way back, not to mention her brother rides with the Dogs. Eldie’s been the club doctor for forever, and Devlin met your brother while working at Sally Anne’s.”
