As soon as she saw his eyes, hisVERYCatholic mother gasped and tried to move away from the table.
“Welcome to my home. Mind your manners, and all will be fine,” Rinnon said, making two cups of hot tea appear before them, and for Jolie.
Flynn got coffee.
“Oh, Jesus,” Flynn’s mother whispered, horrified and trapped. “He’s possessed.”
Jolie watched, and she would give anything to not have to see him suffer like this. He was doing the same thing she’d done to him once.
Flynn was scaring them with the intent to get them to see the truth, and that hurt the person doing it just as much. She knew they needed backup.
AGAIN.
Jacques, we need you.
There was no reply.
NOTHING.
Jolie continued trying to reach their mate before this did irreparable damage to Flynn.
With a blink of his eyes, Flynn’s body relaxed, and when he opened his eyes, they were icy blue.
“We married, and I became a vessel for Rinnon. He’s a demon God, so you are partially correct, and one of the Horseman of the Apocalypse. He created it all.”
He could feel Rinnon get really proud.
Until…
His mother went there.
“The Bible says…”
And that did it.
Immediately, the whole cave shook, and Jolie had to reach out and stop a sword that flew off the wall that was aimed at Flynn’s mother.
“RINNON!”she said. “Stop that! No killing Flynn’s parents! We talked about this!”
Blasphemy!HEstole my stories!
Flynn snapped and the encrusted sword was back on the wall where it had once been.
“I suggest you don’t bring that particular book up, or the people in it. Once more, he gets cranky, and again, I have a hard time keeping him contained when he’s angry. This is his castle, and he is the king.”
The lights flickered.
“And he’s not amused.”
As they sat there, trapped, wisely, they stayed quiet.
Flynn kept going.
“I killed a lot of people, and we saved a million more. My job is to police the supernatural world, and I have a business that gives me cover—Tueur Antiquities. It looks like I hunt for artifacts to sell.”
“You gave up being a cop?” his father asked.
“I had no choice. The world is changing, so those artifacts are dangerous. I have to find them, and what I do with them is lock them away, so monsters don’t kill people or other monsters. I’m keeping the balance between the two worlds of humanity and the supernatural.”
