“It’s the red hair. Makes a man burn easily. And I was a late bloomer.”

No kidding. He had a good thirteen or fourteen inches on her five-one. And those shoulders were at least fifty feet wide. And those chest muscles… no way.

This was not theChad Fieldsthat she knew.

Far, far from it.

His hair had darkened to a burnished reddish-brown that was very attractive. All the nurses on her shift talked about the hot-as-fireDr. Chad. Well, Genny had thought they were all crazy.

Until this very moment, when her world went completely sideways.

Yes, he was rather attractive—physically.

But she’d seen him be a real butthead far too many times before.

Usually to his little sister, of course. When they were younger. She’d known him all of her life. There was nothing that said hot man about Chad to her. That was just crazy.

There just wasn’t and she wasn’t going to let there be, either.

“Need some personal space here, Chad. Personal space. Fast.”

No.He didn’t want that at all. He didn’t want space between him and Genesis at all. Chad’s entire body tightened with the urge to scoop her up and carry her back to the nearest bed—his place was half an hour away. It would work perfectly.

He’d show her exactly what he wanted from her. For hours.

And then start all over again the next day.

There were so many things he could imagine doing to her now.

She was a beautiful woman. He had never noticed that. Before, she had just been one of those bratty Hiller girls next door. They had been everywhere, and getting into everything, all sorts of drama and trouble—dragging Chantal with them—and Gene, Grady, Gunn, George, or Guthrie would have to ride to their rescues—ruining whatever plans Chad and the Hiller brothers had made.

It had gotten to the point where he and the other men would avoid being anywhere near Giavonna, Genesis, Greer, and Chantal.

He’d known her all of her life—but in that moment, he realized the truth: he didn’t know this woman at all.

But he wanted to. He wanted to know all of Genesis’s secrets…

One hand rose, and he cupped her cheek. He brushed his thumb against her bottom lip, banking on her not pulling away.

She wouldn’t want to appear weak, not where he was concerned. It was how she treated her brothers, too. That thought had him frowning as he considered it.

Genesis treated him like he was just an extension of her brothers.

That could be a problem.

He was going to have to find a way to change that, fast. Now was as good a time as any. He couldn’t help himself.

Chad lifted her close. He pressed his lips to her slightly open mouth.

Just for one fast second, and felt her surprise.

“Thank you,” he said when he pulled back, and lowered her feet to the ground. Decision made.

Yes, he would be kissing her again. Soon.

And with a great deal more heat than this.
