“I’ll get your Merc pulled up for you,” said Raif.
Gray glanced at his watch as he left.
1:30 a.m.
They’d been out for over three hours. Christ.
When Light got out of the grounds, there wouldn’t be traffic outside to hitch a ride. He knew his way through the woods, but that was still one hell of a long walk back into the main city.
Blocking any access to his own number via a pin number designed for field-marshal usage, Gray thumbed in the first number, then let it ring four times.
He got a call back a moment later.
“Here.” König sounded tired and a whisper came from his end. But it meant Light hadn’t gotten access to him yet.
Gray mentioned a code then—“Find an unchartered safe house. Wait for the all clear.”
They’d had no prior contact, and no culler was notified of a change in lead. It was just accepted. Or should be.
“And if anything happens between here and the chosen location?”
Gray had read König’s file. He knew his signature mark. “Hold and detain,” he said flatly. “Nothing else, clear?”
“Is this a threat to me, or will Thomas need to be notified too?”
Thomas…. Gray fell quiet. König knew the name of the other culler? They were usually kept in the dark to avoid just that. “Both,” he said eventually.
“I’ll let him know.”
The whisper came so quietly on the other end, and Gray calmed his breathing. “You just did. Both of you get dressed. Stay out of the fucking way.”
He cut the call and stared at his phone for a moment.
“Okay, fuck.” Simon started to shift for the bedroom, no doubt for some clothes, although his focus stayed down on his phone. “With no password to the laptop, two incorrect tries triggers a self-destruct. He won’t have been able to read any—”
Simon stilled in the doorway.
“What’s the problem?”
Simon glanced his way. “He got in to it and accessed a file.” A soft vibration came through on his phone. Gray tugged it out of his trouser pocket to read what Simon had sent through.
Seth Greene.
Gray frowned, not placing the name, but as the address came up of the laptop’s location….
Chapter 25
Blood & Broken Wing
“Fuck.” Seth shivered into the darkness of his bedroom, sweat steaming off his back as he smiled and enjoyed the ease of pressure in his balls.
A soft chuckle played down his neck. A nip came at his jaw a moment later and latex-covered hands gripped at his ass, pulling him in a little deeper with a squeak of rubber as he came. “Oh yeah, right in there, baby. Fill me up.”
Cara stretched beneath him, her full leather bodysuit creaking slightly as a smile played her lips. Her breath heated into the night, mixing with the sweat on his body and causing the shiver. The night played bitter cold, the heating having long since given up fighting it, and the duvet lay lost on the floor somewhere, but they both barely noticed as he grunted his last trace of come in her.
Nakedness on leather…. “Hmm.” Seth wrapped his arms around Cara, his heart slowing in time with hers as he crashed down and gave such a long sigh. He loved how his body felt against her when he finally managed to get her all wrapped up.
“Hey. Don’t get comfortable.” It came so lightly before a hand hit his shoulder. “I need a smoke after that. Go get my vape?”
