Draven
“What do you want?” she asks when our eyes connect again, barely any sound to her voice.
I trail the wand down her cheek, leaving goosebumps in my wake. “Don’t ask questions you don’t want to know the answer to, my little shadow.” Then, to her mouth, her lips parting slightly at my touch, a quiet moan leaving her lips. By the way, her eyes widened that delicious moan left without her permission. “What do you want from me?” she asks again, her voice a tad more assertive, and that assertive tone sends a jolt straight to my cock. I linger my wand there for a few seconds, sweeping the curves of her plump lips before bringing it down to her chest. Her body straightens, her chest rising and falling rapidly.
I inch closer. Her sweet lavender scent threatens to knock me to my feet. “You really want to know what I want?” I whisper in her ear. She nods her head. “I want to explore every inch.” I trail the tip of the wand around her right breast and then her left breast. “Of your perfect body.” Her nipples harden from my touch. This shirt is tight enough that I can see them blossoming. The desire to rip her shirt open and taste her is almost too hard to overcome. God. I need to have her. I need to consume her.“I’m going to fuck all those demons out of you, little shadow. I’m going to exorcise every single one of those fuckers until the only one left is me.” She closes her eyes, biting her lip, her chest rising and falling faster with each second that passes.
“Please,” she pleads.
“Please, what? Little shadow.”
The sound of Matt's shoes against the gravel road reaches me first before the feel of him trying to shove his way between us. He tries pushing me away a few times but gives up after a few seconds when he realizes I’m not going to budge. “Let’s go, Catherine. My parents are waiting for us.” He orders her, but she has not paid one ounce of attention to him. Her eyes have not left mine this whole time. He snaps his fingers in her face, but her gaze doesn’t move. Her blown-out pupils tell me that if I were to trail my fingers between her legs, her underwear would be drenched. He grabs her chin to get her attention, slowly her eyes move from mine to his as if she didn’t want to stop staring at me but the pain he is causing her forces her to.
I grab the back of his neck. Pressing my fingers deep into his flesh, wishing I could feel his pulse quickening as fear takes over his body but with these black gloves I’m wearing it’s hard to. “Didn’t anyone teach you?” I grip his neck hard, a whimper of pain escaping his mouth. “Not to touch a lady without permission?”
Her eyes are flipping quickly between Matt and me, and my hand on his neck. “There’s no problem here, Mr. Soul Reaper. We were just leaving.” The sound of her soft angelic voice does things to me. It activates every cell in my body.
“Let us go, man.” Matt pleads, but it’s not because of him that I let him loose. It’s because she asked, and as much as I don’t fucking want to leave her alone with him, I let her go anyways. She will be okay; I would not do something that will cause her harm. His minutes are marked, and I’ll be watching her closely.Today is the last time this good-for-nothing piece of shit lays his hands on her.
They give me a wide berth, trying to go around me, but I step in front of him. His gaze hardens, and I can’t help but chuckle over his pathetic attempt to scare me. This little shit can’t even scare a fly. “Can you move?” he asks, a small tremble in his voice.
I lunge at him, getting my face very close to his. “Boo,” I whisper. He jerks backward. I laugh and walk away, my black cape willowing behind me as I walk against the wind. Count your blessings, Matt; you will soon get what’s coming for you. For right now, I'll simply observe.
For now.
I’ve seen that piece of shit turnmybeautiful tulip into a lifeless, dull gray version of herself the last nine months they’ve been together. Judge her, change the way she talks, the way she dresses, the music she listens to, and abuse her mentally and physically. She has lost her shine since she’s been with him. But I’m not worried. She will soon be back to her vibrant self once again.
It’s time to end this cat-and-mouse game she and I have been playing for years. It’s time she finally meets her secret admirer.
I spend the next hour and a half following my tulip around, making her darkest fantasy come to life. The only Soul Reaper who will get close to her is me. Matt left her after our little interaction using the excuse that he had something to do before meeting his parents. He made a show earlier about her clothes and meeting his parents when they weren’t even here. But what can you expect from a dramatic little bitch like him?
It didn’t phase her that he left her. The way her face lit up, I knew him leaving made her happy. She has been having a good time with her friends, walking around carefree, laughing, eating, going on rides, and enjoying her time. It has been a long time since she has had fun and I will do anything in my power to keepher this happy. I will burn this fucking town and the people in it, to the ground if I must. It is my job to keep her safe from anyone.
Chapter 5
Catherine
A smile appears on my face, my body relaxing as I watch Matt walking away. He almost ruined my plans with Melissa and Jenny. I didn’t think I would be able to hang out with my friends when he appeared out of nowhere earlier. He said to meet here at six. I wasn’t expecting him to be here. If I’m being honest, I don’t care why he is here. I don’t think my night would have ended like this if it hadn't been for the Soul Reaper coming to my rescue. Matt would have made up some excuses and separated me from my friends.
A prickling sensation crawled up my back when I stepped foot in the park. He is here. I know he is. I only get this feeling when he is around. I just don’t know where he is. My intuition tells me thatheis the Soul Reaper who protected me earlier, but I can’t be sure, and I’m not going to make myself a fool by asking the Soul Reaperhey are you the guy who writes the sweetest poems for me, leaves me gifts and owns my heart.I won’t do that even if I could find the Reaper again. After waiting a few seconds making sure that Matt isn’t going to change his mind, I look at Mel and Jenny's location and make my way towards them.
It takes me five minutes to get from the entrance of Haunted Nights to the Spooktacular pumpkin patch where the creepy displays of vampires, ghosts, and slashers are positioned for a fun photo-op. Jenny sees me first as Mel is too busy looking down at her phone. “Does this mean you’re going to be able to hang out with us after all?” Jenny asks. The hope in her voice makes my heart ache.
“Yes, I am,” I say, fighting back tears.
“Tonight wouldn’t have been the same without you.” Mel claps her hands together, squealing with excitement, before giving me her phone. “Can you take a picture of me, Cat?” Melissa begs desperation in her tone. “You’re the only one who knows how to capture the right angles.” She points her eyes to Jenny with a joking smile on her face. Jenny takes horrible pictures as if she repels a camera. I take a couple of cute pictures of Melissa and look for the best one for her.
“Mel, it’s impossible to pick one. They all look so good,” I complain. She always makes me do this and it’s impossible to pick one. She is very photogenic with her blond hair, blue eyes, dimples, curvy body, and legs for days. “I swear you can’t take a bad picture.”
“Are you done taking pictures?” Jenny asks Melissa. “I want to ride some rides before it gets later.” Jenny is not a big-picture taker. She would rather live in the moment and not on her phone. She hates getting her picture taken, even if she’s as photogenic as Mel is.
“Just one more,” Mel pleads. “Of all of us.”
Jenny rolls her eyes. “Fine.”
Mel squeals and points to an empty spot in the corner. We follow, and she hands me the phone for me to take the selfie. We pose, but before I can click the button to take the picture a black-gloved hand wraps around my wrist taking the phone from me.My heart starts beating fast as I take in the Soul Reapers. The girls complain but I’m so stunned that no words come out.
“I’ll gladly take your pictures.” The Soul Reaper says in a deep husky tone. My breath catches in my throat at the intense look in those onyx eyes.
