Epilogue

Six Months Later

Raelynn

I have seen this courthouse enough times in my short life to never want to be in one again.

But today is different.

Today I want to be here.

Summer pushes her stroller back and forth to calm her five-month-old twins while Harper adjusts the small crown of flowers in my hair.

“Are you nervous?” she asks me.

I smile at her as I look in the mirror of the bathroom. Adjusting the knee length white cotton dress I’m wearing. “Not at all.”

“I can’t believe you are gettin’ married before East and me.” Easton proposed to Harper a few months ago.

“You know we didn’t want to wait. And we didn’t want anything big. This is us and it’s perfect.”

“I never would have thought ten months ago when you moved into the house and helped with the B&B that you would be marrying my brother-in-law,” Summer says.

“You both know I didn’t think so either. We hated each other.”

Harper cups my cheeks and smiles. “Y’all are perfect for each other.”

“I know.”

I smile as I look down at the teardrop solitaire diamond Brooks got me two months ago. We hadn’t been dating long but sometimes when you know, you know. And with Brooks, I am one hundred percent positive that he is all I need. He is my rock, my anchor, my perfect storm.

The memory of him proposing hits me and it turns my insides to goo.

He bought us tickets to Ed Sheeran. He said it was for me. But I knew he was the one that wanted to go. Ever since I caught him singing Ed Sheeran that first day, I caught him multiple times listening to him. He even listened to One Direction which I found even more adorable.

When Ed Sheeran starting singing “Thinking Out Loud,” Brooks wrapped his arm around my waist and pulled me in tight, singing the lyrics into my ear. Near the end of the song, he let me go and when I turned to look at him, he was down on one knee. He didn’t even need to ask the question.

“Earth to Rae,” Summer says. “You sure you ain’t nervous?”

I smile at her. “No, I was just thinking of Brooks’ proposal.”

“Oh my gosh, that was the sweetest thing I ever heard,” Harper gushes.

Summer laughs. “I am surprised Brett didn’t punch him in the face for that. It was cheesy.”

“It was perfect,” Harper responds. “You are just jealous Brett didn’t think of it first.”

Summer pouts as Tacoma walks into the bathroom with Theo on her hip. “It’s time.”

Harper squeals and grabs my hand as we walk out of the bathroom toward the room for elopement.

“Oh by the way Summer, I got the plans approved for the remodel of the cottage,” Harper tells her.

“Perfect. I can’t wait for the extra space. I cannot believe how much the B&B is growing.”

Harper nudges my shoulder. “It’s all because of this one.”

“It sure is,” Summer agrees.
