“Okay,” she says staring at me oddly.
“Really I am fine. Just a weird day.”
“Alright, well I was about to go to the store. Did you make a list of what you need?”
“Oh right, of course. Let me grab it.” I walk over to the counter where I keep my ongoing list and hand it off to her.
She looks at me strangely and says, “Just text me if you forgot anything.”
“Will do.”
“Alright, see you later.”
I wave at her before slumping back against the counter. There is no way I can avoid Brooks for the rest of my life. And I am not so sure if I will be able to hold myself back when I see him.
