Yes, I am.

An hour later, I hesitate outside of Mason’s office. I need some clarification and I know he’ll give it to me, but I don’t want to disrupt his work.

Taking a deep breath, I knock on the door.

“Come in,” his low voice calls out.

“Hey, Greer.” Aiden walks toward me. He went to work out after lunch in the gym down here. His hair is damp like he took a shower. “What are you up to?”

I point to the door, but before I can say anything, it opens.

“What?” Mason’s voice is tinged with anger, and I step back. He scrubs his face before he seems to soften. “What do you need, mouse?”

My gaze darts from Aiden to Mason. I’m used to dealing with angry men, but it still makes me nervous. Another reminder that I don’t know these men. I don’t know what they do behind closed doors.

“I—” I draw in a breath and straighten to my full height. This is for my job that they hired me for. “I need some clarification on some of the chores.”

Mason glances at Aiden before disappearing into his office. Aiden’s hand settles on my low back and he guides me into the office before shutting the door. Mason sits behind a large desk. He has multiple monitors with pages of script, artwork, and a few shows playing in the background with the sound off.

“I’m sorry if I was harsh. I don’t like to be disturbed while I’m working.” He slides a hand through his dark hair and his blue eyes pin me in place.

Aiden leads me to the chair before sitting next to me.

“Go on, little warrior,” he encourages.

“Uh…” I glance at Aiden, worried that he’ll think I’m going behind his back, but I’ll start with something easy. “The laundry. Is there a specific place I get it from? How often should it be done? Do I need to separate the clothes? And do I put them away and where?”

“Our rooms. Aiden and I have hampers in our closets. Roarke’s floor is his hamper, along with his closet and bathroom floor. Wyatt brings his down to the laundry room. With Roarke, you should pick it up every day, but you can put it in his hamper. Pick a rotation for how you do it, but I wouldn’t mix our clothes, which will make the sorting easier. In our closets and drawers. We can each show you our organization system. For Roarke, create your own. He’ll figure it out.”

I nod. Okay, one thing down. I draw in a breath.

“Can you show me where all the alcohol and drugs are stored throughout the house?”

Aiden’s gaze burns into me, but I don’t look at him. When his hand slides under mine and gently threads our fingers together, I release my breath.

“That’s a good idea, little warrior.”

When I face him, he smiles, and the tension eases from squeezing my gut. He knows why I’m asking and it doesn’t bother him. Mom used to get furious when I hid her stuff. She wasn’t my mom when that happened. A little shudder runs through me, and I squeeze Aiden’s hand.

“Of course. The liquor is in a cabinet. I hold the only key, but we should check to make sure that only over-the-counter drugs are accessible.” Mason doesn’t lift his gaze from me. His attention makes me squirm in my chair. “Anything else?”

My cheeks heat. Should I tell them about the other two? “Are we going to talk tonight?”

Mason’s lips tip into a smile. “The documents have been couriered over. The NDA. The contract. I’ll need your banking information.”

“Of course.” Relief pours through me. That’s stuff I can handle.

Mason leans forward, putting his elbows on his desk. His piercing gaze holds mine. “Will you explain something to me, mouse?”

I nod but swallow down my fear.

“This afternoon. Roarke and Wyatt were in your room…”

It’s not a question, but my heart quickens. I nod jerkily.

“While you took your shower…”
