If I was her, I’d befuriousto find out the guy I was sleeping with had mated to a siren. My magic would be difficult for him to resist, at the very least. It would drive him mad with lust, at the worst.
I flushed the toilet and slowly eased myself toward the bathtub off to my side. It was a shower/tub combo, and though it wasn’t large, it would get the job done.
“What are you doing?” she seemed perplexed.
She knew I wasn’t a wolf, but it didn’t surprise me that she hadn’t realized what I was. Unmated sirens were rare. She probably thought I was a vampire or something.
I turned the water on and managed to climb over the ledge of the tub. My body hit the smooth basin with a loud smack, and I used my toes to close the drain as I groaned in pain.
The water wouldn’t cure me.
I would probably need to eat the crackers and drink the Powerade.
But I knew the water would give me relief from the dizziness.
“You’re asiren?” my mate’s lover demanded, as the water started covering my face.
Finally, she figured it out.
She was probably going to try to kill me for what I was while I was in the tub, but I didn’t have the energy to care.
“Porter doesn’t think the water can heal you,” she said, her anger faded as it rose over my cheeks. “He still wants you to eat something.”
I had to assume he’d communicated that to her through the mental pack bond. The one that was apparently becoming mine too.
Finally, the water covered my ears, and I had peace.
Blissful, blissful peace.

IZZY
Time passedby painfully slow as the tub filled. Porter’s lover turned the water off at some point, but I didn’t acknowledge it.
Eventually, I was going to have to have an actual conversation with the woman my mate was screwing. And I was going to have to try not to kill her. Mostly because she had claws and teeth, and all I had was obnoxiously provocative magic.
As the minutes passed, the blissful silence I’d been looking for started to fade.
Noise began to replace it.
It was quiet at first. Like a handful of conversations running through my head.
Someone was asking someone else whether they thought Porter was going to hurt them the way Curtis had.
Another person was chasing a squirrel, their thoughts vibrant and full of adrenaline.
A group of people were arguing about what kind of magical being the alpha’s new mate was, and whether I made him stronger or weaker.
It was weaker. The answer was weaker.
But I wasn’t about to broadcastthat. Everyone would find out what I was soon enough.
My entire body felt weak, but even at my strongest, I was no match for a werewolf. When I was fully fed, I was much faster than a wolf, but I was rarely fully fed.
It had been too dangerous to leave our house that frequently before we were with the vampires. Since then, I just couldn’t force myself to get it on with a vamp twice a week. I’d scraped by when I had to, and thankfully only ended up being bitten by a vampire once.
Most of my sisters were more than happy to feed the vamps, but I wasn’t.
