“Let me save you some trouble. There aren’t any onboard,” I say as softly as I can, which still isn’t overly kind. An irrational anger is stirring deep inside me and bubbling up. Even if I logically understand why she’s doing this, I’m still upset she’s trying to run away from us.
There’s a war going on inside me. My logic and emotions battle. I don’t understand my contradictory thoughts.
“Please, tell me—what’s the danger that you aren’t telling me about?” she asks.
“You won’t understand.” I turn away.
“If I can’t leave, and it’s going to happen, shouldn’t you prepare me?”
“Will it stop you from getting into trouble every time I turn around?” I ask.
“I can’t promise anything.” Gemma juts her chin at me defiantly.
She barely has enough energy to talk, but she is still fighting me.
I want her even more because of her feisty nature. But she doesn’t know what she would be in for if I let her into my world. She’s new to the whole ‘alien’ reality.
“Then I refuse to tell you until you promise to behave.” I storm out of the room.

HEALING
ROK
Serrat storming out of the room has an obvious impact on the female.
She doesn’t like his dominance as he orders her around. Good. Then maybe she won’t be as big of a problem as I originally thought.
If she survives…
“Zeek, leave,” I order with a bit of alpha bark.
He doesn’t move. What has gotten into him? He’s usually so compliant.
I’m tired of how this human has disturbed our balance so quickly. The timing couldn’t be worse.
Glaring at the indigo-haired disruptor, I say, “I won’t hurt her.” Still he doesn’t move to leave. “I need to mend her cuts,” I add to placate him.
“Call for me if you need me,” Zeek says to the female. He leans toward her, giving her a little frown, looking as if he itches to pull her into his arms and whisk her away. Finally, he heads for the door. “I will find something for you to eat, little menace.”
“Thank you,” Gemma says, just above a whisper. Eyeing me, her body tightens in a defensive measure. She doesn’t trust me to heal her. “You hate me,” she states without question.
“I do not know you to hate you,” I answer plainly. It isn’t a lie. Although, I dislike her inopportune presence very, very much, but that isn’t the same thing.
“Okay, so you don’t hate me, but you hate that I came on board.”
Calmly, I walk over and close the med bay door for some privacy. I lock it so she can’t run wild again through our home.
When I turn back to her, she recoils, as though she will need to defend herself from an attack.
My sensitive ears hear her heartbeat increasing, and I can smell adrenaline rushing through her veins. I speak slowly and calmly to make her pay attention. “I don’t think you meant any harm by coming aboard. But youarea threat to my pack.”
“How?” She looks pointedly at my claws. “I wouldn’t win in a fight with any of you. As it is, I can barely stand up. Besides, I don’t want to hurt any of you. I just want to return to Earth.”
I huff. Serrat doesn’t want to explain things to her, so I shouldn’t disobey. But I need to do or say something to convince her to stay in her quarters. “No. You wouldn’t probably hurt us like that.”
She blinks those pretty long lashes over her hypnotic cerulean-blue eyes. I’m not immune to her beauty, even if her human appearance isn’t my normal taste in a sexual partner.
