Page 103 of Charming Her Monsters

We step forward and a large cabin, a barn, and small cottage now sit in the middle of the clearing.

“Wow, was that illusion made with Amira’s power?” I glance up at my demon. “Do you think I will be able to do that? I mean, I’d love to pull a disappearing act when I don’t want to chat someone up.”

“Someday.Maybe.” Maxum squeezes my hand when I frown with disappointment. So much for insta-magic.

When we reach the large log cabin, Amira points to a smaller outbuilding—a bungalow about fifty long strides away. “You will all have to stay in the guest house.” She glances at all the guys and takes in their size. “It will be a tight fit, but it’s all I have to offer you for accommodations. It has the basics, and it was where we stayed while building our home. Let one of us know if you need anything, since I suspect you left your former safe house in a bit of a hurry. We’ll have dinner in a few hours.”

“Thank you. As long as my pack is safe. That’s all that matters.” Maxum bows to Amira.

We follow him over to set our stuff down and get a look at our new hideout.

“Witch?” Amira calls, as we walk away. “Tomorrow, come see me.”

“Will do.” I salute casually.Oof. What was that? I don’t salute, but perhaps it’s because I expect she will be part drill sergeant and part witch.

Maxum looks as though he’s holding back a chuckle.

Arran looks like he might consume me right on the lawn.

With a determined stride, Calder rushes ahead to check out our small cabin.

Flint scans the surroundings, likely assessing the threat level. With my attention on him, he says, “I have to ensure your safety, my mate.”

Will I ever get used to the guys calling me theirmate? The thrill of finally being desired to that level may never wear off. It makes my heart pound harder and my skin heats up.

Calder comes back out of the cabin and actually blushes. “All clear. But uh, Amira wasn’t joking about tight quarters.”

We all walk in and notice the space is mostly open, with an enclosed bathroom. The bedroom, if you could call it a room, has a partition wall to separate it from a living area and kitchenette. There’s only one large bed. We might all be able to fit on it, but it will be a dog pile. Thankfully, there’s a long couch, so Calder has that as an option. I doubt he wants to share a bed with me even if he was overwhelmed with emotion and wanted to kiss me, we are still getting over our differences.

It could have been a friendship kiss… okay, maybe it wasn’tthatinnocent. But it doesn’t mean he wants me for more than a sweet moment of thanks for allowing him to speak to his dead lover.

“I think he might have wanted to kiss you for more than just a thank you,”Osen whispers in my mind.

“Perhaps, but I’m not going to dwell on it. I have bigger issues to deal with, like survival. Learning about my magic. Smiting our enemies,”I tell him.

“I’m all for that, especially the last one,”he says happily.

“I figured. And remember, I want to get revenge for you. For all of us. So don’t get a wild hair and stick it up my bum.”

“I’d love to put something else up your bum.”

I bark out a laugh, and everyone turns to look at me. “Sorry, Osen’s being a brat.”

“The more things change, the more they stay the same,” Calder jokes with a playful grin.

Damn, I wish he’d smile more. He’s always devastatingly handsome, but even more so now. My panties have caught on fire.

We quickly tidy up the place and put our limited items away.

We are all covered in dust and sweat. However, being the gentle-monsters they are, they tell me to go first. I pout a bit since I’ve gotten used to them washing with me.

As soon as I close the bathroom door and strip down, I hear the muffled debate between Maxum, Arran, and Flint about who will get to join me.

I grin like a fool that they all want to be in here with me. No matter who it is, I’ll be happy.

I turn the faucet knob to warm up the water before stepping in. My back to the door, I hear someone enter. Immediately and without question, I know it’s my demon.

“Maxum, how did you win the fight?” I ask.
