Since I decided to freestyle my studies and follow my instincts as to what I needed to read or learn about next, I’m currently reading, curled up on a leather couch in our library. I’m making significant progress with my practical application to allow others to harness energy into magic.
Now that politically, things have settled down a bit. Quade is up for a seat on the Supernatural Council, which he will probably accept. The supernaturals wanted to have someone actually part of the revolt to be monitoring the goings on.
Rourke was also asked to join, but he didn’t want to follow in his father’s footsteps. Instead, he and Branden have been searching for Branden’s missing sister and for any information about my half-siblings.
We now wonder if Branden’s sister was ever actually taken by the draining operation. Or maybe she was lucky, escaped, and is still in hiding. Or perhaps she just merely ran away from their home. She had good reason to run. I now know that she had been a prisoner at home, ever since she had passed her magical control exam and was removed from school for being disobedient.
“What are you reading, love?” Landis asks, as he and Arden plop down next to me on the leather couch.
I show them the cover:Quantum Mechanics for Dummies.
They both chuckle, but Arden asks, “You need me to locate a specialist for you to discuss ideas?”
My druid has been helping me develop mySightfor seeing the connectivity threads of all living things. And I’ve been applying the ability to my unique magic. He’s also had the most success with transmuting energy into magical power.
Landis has taken to the ability quite well too.
Soon, I will have to test it out on my others guys and someone not soullinked to me, just to make sure that I’m not somehow helping them without knowing it. If I am, then I will have to figure out how to transfer my ability to others on a grand scale.
I mark my spot in my book and set it down. “Get a female scientist. And see if there are any who are in the know about supes and magical beings.”
“Done.” He pulls my feet into his lap and rubs them, making me moan.
Rourke saunters in and smiles at me, then at Landis, who is now rubbing my neck. “Anything else that needs rubbing, princess?” my dragon shifter asks suggestively.
“I would, but…” I look out the window to see it’s twilight. “Isn’t it time for dinner?”
“Yeah. Chef Kalla is almost done.” He leans down and gives me a sweet but lingering kiss. “That’s why I have hunted down my most precious treasure.”
“Hey, now.” Branden smirks as he strolls in, not looking truly offended by the statement. “What about me?”
“You’re my most priceless?” Rourke offers.
“Does that mean I don’t come with a price?” Branden crosses his arms.
“We both know that’s untrue,” Rourke laughs. “You’re even more expensive than Shayla.”
“I can’t help it if vintage race cars cost so much.” Branden shrugs and chuckles.
Goddess, I still love to hear his throaty laughter.
Quade must feel the group has gathered and appears in the doorway. “Are you all keeping Shayla from her studies?” He strides over, primal like a predator, and then picks me up and throws me over his shoulder. “Dinner’s ready, babe. And I’m hungry for a sweet dessert afterward.” His hand slides up, groping my pussy.
I squeal with delight. “Let’s get this meal over with then!”
The other four follow us, licking their lips, driving me wild and wet with their dark hungry gazes.
I wonder, could we skip dinner and go straight to dessert?
* * *
After a lovely meal and even lovelier dessert of all my sweet-tasting mates, I fall asleep with a sated grin on my face…
When I feel another presence nearby, I open my eyes.
Instantly, I recognize I’m on another plane of existence. Much like an incubus’ shadowscape or a regular dreamscape, but not quite.
Everything feels more vibrant, as if I were in the fae realm and on acid.
