The steadiness in his words and the certainty in his eyes cause my currently racing pulse to slow. My breathing evens as I nod carefully at him, a sense of ease washing over me that I didn’t know I needed. I think it’s safe to say that I have abandonment issues that are definitely unresolved. The idea of moving in with someone I’m crazy about shouldn’t send me into a full-blown spiral like that, but on the same hand, the idea of losing the only sense of stability I’ve really had in my whole life is worthy of said spiral.
“And,” Dom continues, “I’ll keep your apartment. I’ll cover this year’s remaining payments, and this time next year we can talk about if you want to keep it or not. Whatever you want, baby.”
“Next year?” I say. “You really think we’re going to be together for that long? Already, at two months, you know that?”
“I do.” He nods confidently.
All I can do is blink at him. What else am I expected to do or say in a situation like this? He’s listening to what I’m saying, yes, but not accepting no. He has an answer for every potential question I have, a solution for every problem.
“Please?” he asks, softening his tone to the point where it’s the lightest I’ve ever heard before.
Something in his tone, or maybe his eyes, has a strange feeling twisting inside of me. It’s a feeling that is powerful enough to have the words spilling out of my mouth before I can even stop them.
“Okay.”
“Okay?” he questions.
I nod with a small smile. “Okay.”
Chapter Fourteen
BLAKE
The movers that Dom hired set down the last box in the living room before Dom signs their paperwork. They thank him and step out of his apartment, well, I guess, my apartment too. If you can even call it an apartment. It’s more like a mansion in the sky.
I’ve been here a few times before, but we usually spend time at my place, so it all feels…different. Two strong arms slide around my waist, pinning me against his chest as his lips murmur against the sensitive curve ofmy neck.
“What are you thinking?”
“How crazy I am to let you move me into your place in less than twenty-four hours.”
A low chuckle fills the room as he nuzzles deeper into my neck.
“It’s your place now, Blake. Whatever you want to do, consider it done. I can give you my card, and you can buy all-new furniture. Or I can hire an interior decorator, and you can let them do all the work. I want you to be comfortable,” he says as he turns me to face him.
I can’t help but laugh and shake my head.
“I’m sorry. I know that you’re well-off and everything, but this is like the shit billionaire men say in those romance novels. Your place is great, nicer than anywhere I’ve ever lived.”
“You’re not hearing me, baby. I don’t want it to be my place, I want it to beourplace.”
I look up at his deep brown eyes, so intense, so focused. God, I feel way too much for this man, way too fast. I’m not being careful with my heart, and I know this slope is only about to get a whole lot slipperier now that we are living together.
Can’t wait to explain this one to Gabby.
Leaning up onto my toes, I close the distance between us, pressing my lips against his as his hands travel down my body. They settle on my ass before he’s lifting me into the air and pressing me against the wall. I swear, just a single touch is all it takes for us, and with the way his tongue is beginning to ravage my mouth, I wouldn’t have it any other way.
His lips run up and down my neck, leaving small nippingtrails in his wake as I grind myself against his hard-on.
“Tell me what you want, baby. I want to hear you say it,” he says against my skin.
“I want you to fuck me against this wall right here, right now.”
His eyes flick up to mine as one of his hands releases me and goes to his pants.
“Done.”
He crushes his lips against me once again while he pulls his cock out and rips yet another pair of yoga pants, making his access all the easier. The man is going to owe me an entire drawer full at this point.
