“Cut you out of what?” Bellamy had no idea what she was talking about.
“I made Jackson promise me when I was in the hospital in Boulder that no matter what, if they caught Clint, I would get my chance to face him. To let him know he didn’t break me. And now,” she pointed toward the living room, “they’re in there, probably discussing it and I’m not going to get my revenge.”
“Do you know where the safe house is?” Bellamy asked hopefully.
“No. He won’t tell me, no matter how many times I ask.” She crossed her arms over her chest, pouting about being left out. Shouldn’t it be up to her as to what happened to Clint, considering she’d suffered the most by his hand?
“Don’t worry. I’ve got an idea on how to find out where they’re going. I’ll get you there so you can get your revenge.” The smirk on Bellamy’s face should have alarmed her, but it didn’t.
Jackson came back into the kitchen, a guilty look on his face. His mouth was turned down into a frown and he was making a straight line to her. She watched the rest of the club file in and waited for Jackson to give her the bad news.
“Babe? Look at me.” He pulled her attention away from his brothers and over to him. He squatted down so that he was closer to eye level with her. “We’re heading out. I’m not sure what time I’ll be home. We’re going to leave Tulsa here with you guys. You haven’t met him yet because he’s been out of town.” He pointed to where a tall, slim man in faded jeans, an AC/DC shirt and cowboy boots stood. He looked to be in his late twenties and had a drop dead smile, complete with dimples. His hair was light brown and needed a trim. He came forward and shook her hand.
“Nice to meet you, Calliope. Bellamy.” He nodded his head her friend’s direction. If she hadn’t seen it with her own two eyes, she wouldn’t have believed it. Her friend blushed. She never blushed. Nothing embarrassed her. How strange.
“Nice to meet you, too, Tulsa.”
Her focus returned to Jackson. She tried to speak quietly, not wanting his brothers to hear what she was saying, but it was kind of hard with them standing right there. “You promised.”
“I know I did, baby, but now that he’s hurt Chris, everyone wants a piece of Clint.” She didn’t care if he looked remorseful or not. He’d promised her and she was going to make him keep his promise.
“So, you’re saying you lied to me?”
“No. I didn’t lie to you. Things changed. It doesn’t affect just you anymore. The whole club was pulled in when he came after you again and hurt Chris.” He shot a look at his brothers, then back to Calliope. “I’m sorry, but it’s out of my hands.”
Calliope was so mad at Jackson. She wanted to yell at him and kick him in the shin, but she didn’t want to embarrass him or herself in front of his club. She let him kiss her cheek and whisper in her ear, “Love you.” Then he stood and prepared to leave.
Everyone started to file out of the kitchen. That’s when Bellamy stood, tripped over her chair and fell into Race. Luckily, he was quick enough to catch her before she fell on her face. She blushed bright red. Again with the blushing. “I’m so sorry. I got tangled in the chair legs.”
Oddly enough, she thought Race was blushing, too. He frowned and helped her to her feet. “No problem.”
Bellamy took off down the hall, heading for her room. Calliope was too pissed to move as she watched them all walk out the front door. She heard their bikes fire up and listened until the sound of their pipes faded away. Tulsa stood in the doorway, watching her with a smile on his face.
“You care if I turn on the television?” he asked with a southern drawl.
“Sure. Go help yourself. I’m just going to clean up in here.” Calliope stood and started gathering the discarded paper plates. She poured unfinished cups of coffee down the sink and loaded them into the dishwasher. She felt something hit her in the back. She turned to find Bellamy in the hall, out of view of the living room, waving at her to follow her. She looked down and found one of Ryker’s foam bullets for his gun.
Calliope quickly glanced to see that Tulsa had made himself at home on the couch and wasn’t paying any attention to her. She causally strolled down the hall, when she really wanted to speed walk to get to Bellamy.
“What are you doing?” she whispered as she closed the door behind her quietly.
“Are they gone?” Bellamy whispered back.
“Yes.” Calliope wondered what in the world was going on with her friend. Did yesterday’s events mess with her worse than she thought?
“Good.” She was smiling so big, it almost looked evil.
“What did you do?” Calliope knew Bellamy well enough to know that she was up to something.
“I found a way to find out where this safe house is located and we’re going to go there so you can get your payback.” She was rather smug with her answer, but she definitely had Calliope’s attention.
“What?”
“When I tripped and fell into Race, I slipped my cell phone in his pocket. All we have to do is get on your computer and track my phone. Then we’ll know where to go.”
“Are you serious?” Bellamy nodded her head and bounced up and down.
“Eeeee. I so love you right now.” Calliope tried to keep a handle on her excitement. The worst thing they could do was draw Tulsa’s attention. He’d shut them down before they could even get started.
