I’m done waiting for Luca or Giovanni.

I’ll save myself.

Chapter thirty-four

Luca

Giovanni tries to stop me as he descends into the car. He had helped me tie a piece of my shirt to the wound before we got here.

“I’ll take care of this, Luca. Just wait here.”

“Bullshit. Mateo’s mine,” I protest, ignoring the pain in my arm.

We are still alive, all thanks to Bianca. She had sent out more men to help us at Mateo’s home after Vito had reached out to her. They came just in time to fight back Mateo’s men.

One of the men we captured alive gave out the location of Mateo’s secret warehouse. That’s how we got here.

We couldn’t stop Mateo when he escaped with Gianna and my daughter. They are in danger and I’ll do anything to get them back. Even if it means risking my own life.

“I’m going in there with you.”

Giovanni takes one more look at me. His eyebrows raised, silently questioning if I’m sure.

I’ve never been surer in my entire life than I am right now. Mateo’s mine and I’ll fucking make him regret he messed with me all along.

By now, I know one more thing for sure -Gianna belongs to me and no one else. Just as Sophie does.

The sound of gunshots fills the air as my men and Mateo’s exchange fire.

“Fine, stay close,” Giovanni replies.

I grunt as I take off the safety of my gun and get out of the car quickly. The warehouse is heated with bullets fired everywhere. Bodies are dropping to the ground, covered in blood.

Giovanni covers me as I make my way to the door of the warehouse. I’m grunting, trying to ignore the pain in my arm. I spot Vito and Sterling busy taking down Mateo’s men.

My fingers fumble on the trigger as I try to shoot one of the men aiming at me, but Giovanni takes a quicker shot, sending a bulletright through his fucking brain, causing part of his head to burst open.

We exchange glances as I silently thank him for saving my life. The door to the warehouse opens as more armed men come out shooting at us.

Giovanni and I stop in our tracks before running to take cover from the shots being fired. We both settle at the side of a truck and take shots back at them.

I kill one coming at me, shooting him in his leg first. He falls to the ground on his knee when I take one last shot, sending a bullet through his chest.

“I’m going in. Gianna might be in danger,” I yell at Giovanni as we make eye contact.

He is breathing heavily, having almost been killed. The bullet flew right through the glass of the truck, missing his head by just an inch.

“I’ll cover for you,” he replies.

I nod in response, looking at both sides before I begin to run toward the door of the warehouse.

Giovanni is behind me as we both shoot Mateo’s assholes coming our way. The door is unlocked when we get there.

I try to open the door but yell when someone stabs my arm. “Arghh, fuck!” I slam the wooden door back, hitting the intruder in his face. My arm begins to hurt even more. He almost gets me in the same spot I had been shot.

Motherfucker!

I open the door again, taking quick shots as he rushes at me once more. I have my gun sticking to his abdomen when he tries to stab me again.
