I pull the bat harder as I drag him with it, closer to me. My arm is hurting like hell. I can already feel my fingers going numb.

“Son of a bitch,” Giovanni growls, while throwing two more punches at his face.

He finally lets go just before I do. I grip the bat tight as I smash it in his face hard. He falls to his knees with a bleeding mouth.

“Where is she?”

I smash the bat into his face again and he finally falls to the ground completely, blood oozing out of his nose and mouth. A wound from the impact is now visible on his head.

“Where is Gianna?”

He doesn’t reply; instead, he rolls on the ground and tries to get up. I smash the bat on his fingers and he yells loudly, falling back down to the ground.

“Answer me!”

He is panting hard, staring at me with a bloody face. His nose is broken and his face swollen. “Mateo’s fucking her. You’ll never have her,” he mutters.

In a quick fit of anger, I smash the bat on his head violently and his eyes stop moving. I’m breathing heavily as I toss the bat to the ground. It is smeared with blood.

I can’t let Mateo fucking touch her. My blood is boiling; I need to stop him. Now.

“My brother is still around here. Check every room,” Pietro says from behind us. He is on his knees on the ground.

“Fuck you!” I grunt at the dead body.

Giovanni picks up the gun from one of the dead guards and shoots the bald man in the head twice.

“Is he with my daughter?”

“No, he had someone else take her.”

Oh, fuck!

“Go save Gianna. I’ll find Sophie,” Giovanni says to me, tossing the other gun at me.

I grunt, catching the gun in the air.

The cloth I had tied on my arm is soaked in blood. My blood. I’m getting weaker by the minute, but I don’t let Giovanni notice.

“Be safe, Luca. I want to see you both alive.”

I nod in response as Giovanni walks out the door.

“Are you alright?” Pietro asks when I fall to my knees. His voice is full of concern.

I squeeze my eyes shut, stifling my groans. “I-I am.”

“You are hurt, Luca.”

“It doesn’t matter. I need to save Gianna.” I pull myself from the ground with every ounce of strength left in me and I cling to the wall for support for a few seconds. Every moment I waste here has Gianna in danger. I can’t let Mateo hurt her.

“She is lucky to have you.”

“Will you be fine?”

“Don’t worry about me. Go save your woman.”

I swallow a gulp, holding the gun tighter as I walk to the door.
