“Good.” A weak smile spreads on my lips as they carry me up to my feet and I see Gianna hugging our child in her arms.
She walks closer to me and Sophie touches my face. My heart melts.
I’m never letting go this time.

“Easy there,” Bianca says, hearing me groan as I try to pour myself a drink.
My arm still has a bandage on it.
“He wouldn’t let anyone help him,” Gianna replies.
“I can pour a fucking drink for myself.”
“Luca!” Gianna and Bianca exclaim.
I’m not used to having a child around and having to stop myself from cursing. “My bad.”
Sophie’s attention is fixed on her toys as she plays with them in the living room.
Gianna gives me a look.
“She can barely hear me,” I say defensively before I gulp down my drink.
Gianna hasn’t accepted my request to live with me yet. It’s been three days since the incident and I know it’s a lot for her. I don’t want to rush her into anything yet. I’m not fucking up my chance to be with her again, along with my child.
Bianca punches me lightly.
“Fine, I’ll watch my language around her.”
My phone rings as I try to pour myself another drink. It’s Vito. A knock lands on the front door almost immediately.
“Who could that be?” Bianca says, as she walks toward the door.
“Yes, Vito,” I blurt, answering the call while my gaze is fixed on the door.
“It’s done.”
“Good.”
Bianca opens the door and it’s Pietro standing there. The wounds on his face still have bandages over them.
I had Vito take care of the rest of the Carusos, all except Pietro. None of the rest deserve to live.
Pietro walks into my house just as Vito calls to tell me they are dead.
“Luca,” he says, as he walks in. He has a smirk on his face with his suit perfectly fitted on his body.
“Pietro.” I set the glass on the counter.
“Is it too early to want to discuss business together?”
I walk closer to meet him. “It’s never too early to talk business,” I reply, taking his hand.
“Great, cause we have a few things to discuss, business partner.”
