“Bastardo!”

I give him some space as I crawl away from his reach. The sleeves of my dark blue shirt are now a crimson red as I wipe off my blood on them.

“Only one of us is getting out of here alive,” Giovanni grunts as he pulls out the broken piece.

I’m exhausted; this was not how I planned my bathroom break to go.

“Then you’ll never get to see your sister.”

His expression changes for a moment. It’s more anger as he glares at me with those intense eyes. They remind me of Gianna’s. If he had any doubt that I had his sister, I’m sure that’s been cleared up now and replaced by the rage rooted deep in his eyes.

“You fucking bastard! Where is she?” He tries to come at me again with his fists already balled.

“You kill me and she dies as well. So you better make the right decision now.”

He stops in his tracks with his teeth clenched as he pants with his mouth open. “Where is she?”

“Gianna...” I pull myself slowly from the ground. “Gianna is my prisoner,” I say with a wicked grin as I wipe off some fresh blood from the corner of my lips.

Giovanni stares at me, helpless and furious, but he doesn’t make any stupid moves. He loves Gianna way too much to put her life in danger. She is the perfect bait.

He drops his balled fists to his sides and he leaps further away from me.

“Good choice.”

“What do you fucking want? You name it and it’s fucking yours. Just let go of Anna.”

I watch him grip a fistful of his shirt and squeeze the side of his chest. The injury must still hurt.

“All I want is to watch your family suffer like you made mine suffer. I’m not stopping until I have killed every one of you.”

Giovanni rests his back on the wall with an expression filled with pain in his eyes.

“Salvatore is next.” I leave for the door, gripping its handle. “I won’t be making any mistakes now! I’ll kill him for good and take over his business.”

Giovanni hisses roughly but doesn’t dare to make any move as I walk out of the room, slamming the door shut.

He survived this one because I got fucking distracted by some pussy. My bad. I’m not letting him survive our next encounter.

Chapter eighteen

Gianna

Luca strolls into the room as the door flicks open. He looks horrible; his lip is bleeding, and bruises are forming on his face. He's breathing heavily, like it's hard for him. I quickly stand to my feet defensively.

He had my hands cuffed back together after I tried to escape. The look in his eye is different, with an intensity that I do not understand.

He takes a few slow steps towards me.

I’m also taking a few steps back, my heart pounding in my chest.

“Apparently, your brother is alive...”

My back hits the wall, with no more space to run to. He looks pissed, with a clenched jaw.

Luca knows. He wouldn’t let that slip, knowing he had failed to kill my brother. My gut tells me something has happened. Something bad.

“What have you done?” I step away from the wall, walking forward to meet him.
