“Do you mean that, Tavie? You’d rather watch me with another than take this night for ourselves?” His voice softened with her. I didn’t care for that at all.
It proved that there was a real person under all that douchebaggery, and I didn’t want to remember that the next time he tried some shit with Lucifer.
Or when he was killing Deasley…
“I’m not saying that, I just… the king gave his orders.”
“What do you care for his orders? If you were so concerned with obedience to him, you never would have let me touch you in the first place.”
The icy set of her features revealed something to me that Odragir clearly wasn’t aware of.
He might love her, but the feeling was not mutual. She might want him physically, but that was likely where any emotion regarding Odragir ended.
Poor bastard.
Like a switch had flipped, suddenly her expression warmed. She gave him a soft smile and moved into his embrace.
“I’m sorry, my love, I only feared that we would be found out. We can’t trust the queen to keep our secret, though. She’ll only betray us when it benefits her later.”
Her change in behavior told me that even if she didn’t love him, she got something from him. Something she didn’t want to lose by pushing him too far.
“Excuse me, unlike the both of you, I’m not the one going out of my way to hurt people here.” They were a match made in Hell in the worst way.
Two scowls came my way before they returned their attention to each other. I used their preoccupation with shit talking me to one another to inch my way toward the door.
They hadn’t agreed yet, but the longer I stood doing nothing, the more chance they had to say no and try to get this non-consensual show on the road.
My hand was on the door when they finally realized that I’d almost escaped.
“Where are you going?” Odragir demanded, and I had to fight back the urge to snap at his imperious tone.
“I wouldn’t dare intrude on your time together. Even I can feel the heat between the two of you.” I made my voice breathy, as though their passion threatened to consume me, too.
Ew.
Still, I grabbed onto that buzzing in my veins and channeled it outward. “You deserve privacy when you ravish the woman you love, when you take your fill of her body and she does the same with yours.”
Their breathing grew heavier as they locked gazes, all of their resistance finally melted away.
I was halfway down the hall before they probably realized I was truly gone. There was only one place in the palace where I’d be truly safe from being discovered.
I hurried straight to the Clubhouse.
Letting myself in, I was semi-relieved to find that it was empty.
Lucifer would be in the foulest of tempers after what he’d heard Asmodeus say to Odragir up on the dais. I would comfort him, and somehow his dick would end up in my hand, followed by his mouth on my pussy.
Not exactly conducive to the whole “avoid intimacy with Lucifer so we don’t get anyone killed” plan.
I snagged my favorite blanket from a pile on the floor, only realizing after I’d pulled it up that someone was beneath it. I shrieked and jumped back, my heart pounding in my chest.
“Killian!” I clapped a hand over the beating organ, trying to calm my pulse before I gave myself an aneurysm. “What are you doing here?”
He looked at me with big green eyes, wide and… sad.
“Are you okay?” He still didn’t answer, and my heart ached to see him distraught and unable to articulate the cause. I wanted to help, but how could I if I didn’t know the problem?
“Wanna watch a movie with me?”
