An enormous gold collar, and attached to that was a golden leash that led up to the hand of… the Tainted princess.

There was no question of her identity. She looked so much like Pypentha, I might have almost believed they were the twins, not their mothers.

The long gold chain was wrapped around her wrist and threading through her slim, pale fingers.

“Attend, dog. The people want to see you shift.”

He immediately began to ripple, his fur disappearing as his body condensed down to his normal demon size. His blue eyes were a deep azure, darker than I’d ever seen them.

Sameera ran a hand down his chest, stopping just above his soft cock. She twirled a finger in his pubic hair, but it didn’t so much as stir.

“Such a good pet.” The corner of Lucifer’s lip curled the barest bit, but Sameera didn’t notice.

My breaths were coming fast and shallow, my body vibrating with the need to snap her fucking neck.

I wished I had fangs of my own so I could bite her heart from her chest and devour it before the sight faded from her blood-red eyes.

“Does it upset you, my darling? To see Sameera playing with her gift?” Asmodeus had sidled up behind me, his lips close to my ear as he taunted me with the horrifying vision before me.

“Whether it does or doesn’t, why would you care? Are you so weak and sad that you don’t have anything more important to do than to break a woman you claim to care nothing about?”

“Everyone has a hobby, dear. You have always been mine.” He chucked me under the chin like I was just being such a silly thing.

Fuck him.

“Get a new one. I want out.”

“Funny you would say that. I think you’ll get what you want sooner than you think.”

The overt allusion to the fact that he intended to kill me should have been horrifying. Instead, it exhausted me.

“Enough, Asmodeus. If you plan to do something,do it. You waste time, mine and yours, when you just keep making threats.”

“Is that so, Lilith?”

“It is. If you’re gonna talk about it, be about it.”

His brow furrowed, but he caught my meaning loud and clear.

“What if I just crushed your skull right here? Right in front of the demon you love, and all and sundry from the important levels of Hell.”

“See, the difference between you and me is I wouldn’t stand here talking about it. Your brain matter would already be leaking onto the floor.” My gaze returned to Lucifer, always magnetically drawn back to him.

His eyes were wild, head shaking almost imperceptibly.

“Do you think that you can continue to push me, Lilith? That there will be no repercussions?” His voice was still low. He was enjoying this, but he didn’t want to draw too much attention.

Too fucking bad.

“What can you do to me that you haven’t already? What?” Heads began to turn, and his eyes darted around the crowd. “You’ve hit me, you’ve tortured me, you’ve fuckingkilledme, over and over again!”

“Lilith—”

“And for what? To prove you can use the Crone’s magic to hurt others? Oh, howimpressive, you know how to take out those stronger than you! Oh, except for King Beleqor, right? He was too strong for you to defeat, so you resorted again to the Crone’s power to take what you couldn’t earn yourself!” I sneered at him, unleashing the full force of my disgust for him. “You’re pathetic, weak, and if not for the wolves and the Crone, Beleqor would have killed you like the worm you are.”

His hand was around my throat the very second I stopped speaking. All access to air was cut off.

I yanked uselessly at my hands, trying to free them from the chains to claw at him.
