“No.” Spade closed the distance between us, his hands wrapping around my waist to tug me closer. “You look gorgeousin anything—simply delectable and sweet enough to devour—especially covered in the blood of our enemies.”
I leaned into him, only now noticing how fast my heart pounded from the adrenaline coursing through my veins. It was begging for an outlet, especially since Spade got to have most of the fun this time. I tucked my hands under his shirt, moaning at the warm, muscled skin beneath the pads of my fingers.
My men were like an addiction. Just their touch or the press of their skin had my mind going to a place it really shouldn’t, especially surrounded by three dead bodies.
“I have an idea.” Mischief glinted in his violet eyes as he grinned down at me. “Follow me.”
“I’d follow you anywhere.” And I would. I’d follow any of them to the end of the world.
They were my family, my home, and the only people I could ever truly be myself around.
And they were mine—for now and forever.
Chapter Nineteen
Giana
“Call the clean-up crew,”Spade called, saluting the Devil’s Demons positioned in front of the bookstore.
One of the three men immediately brought his phone to his ear, like he had just been waiting for the confirmation. Knowing Spade, I was sure they were used to him having the situation under control without any intervention.
Heat bloomed in my cheeks as I glanced back at the alley, realizing that they’d probably heard everything. It was one thing to lose myself in the kill with Spade by my side, but it was another thing entirely to have other people witness me unleash the devil within.
Judging by the respect in their eyes as they nodded to Spade and me, I was sure they’d overheard every single word.
I waited a moment for the dark cloud of shame to hover over my head, for it to twist in my gut, but it never came. For the first time in my life, I felt free, not living life by the standards of others, and it felt fucking amazing.
Spade’s grip on my hand tightened, his knowing gaze on me. “Let’s go, sugar.”
“And where exactly are we going?” Adrenaline pumped through my veins like electricity, lighting me up from the inside out.
“Not far.” Spade winked before tugging me across the street and back toward Merrick’s car.
“We’re just going to sit in the car?” I pouted, my chest deflating slightly.
“Not quite.” Spade spun me around, eliciting a giggle as I twirled around. “I have an idea, one that is sure to get under Merrick’s skin,” he whispered, his breath skating over my ear as he leaned close, sending a shiver of desire through me.
A mischievous grin curled on my lips. “That just happens to be my favorite pastime.”
“I thought it might be.” Spade’s violet eyes sparkled as he pressed me against the hood of Merrick’s car, the cool metal sending a chill over my skin, which was quickly chased away as Spade’s lips lowered a hairbreadth away from mine. “You are absolutely breathtaking.”
His mouth lightly brushed mine with each word, drawing out a needy gasp. My body craved his, urging me to close the distance, but Spade made the wait so torturously sweet.
The car was tucked away from the view of the street, hidden behind a line of thick trees. The men couldn’t see us, and we were far enough away from them to not be overheard.
“I think we should give Merrick and Kellan a little taste, don’t you?” Spade arched a mischievous eyebrow as his gaze roved over my body, drinking in every blood-splattered curve. “We should show them exactly what fun we get up to when it’s just the two of us.”
Heat spread over my skin, my heart jackhammering against my chest in anticipation. “That sounds dangerous.”
“Good thing you love danger.” He grinned.
Lust hummed through my veins, my body ready for him to close the distance, but instead of lowering his lips to mine, he pulled away.
“Spade.” I pouted, causing a pained groan to tumble from his lips.
“Don’t give me that look, sugar, unless you want me to bite that luscious lip of yours.”
I definitely wanted him to do exactly that.
