“Thank you.” Emily gives me a partial bow and frowns. “Where’re we going exactly?”
I dial Dominic’s number. “We’re going to the police station. I’m going to get a protection order, and the guys and my dad are on their way to Silas’s office to demand he get his son to back off. Brock is always on a short leash with his dad at work and will hate the thought of the police being involved.”
“Yes, babe?” Dominic answers on the first ring.
“We’re on the way to the police station.”
“We haven’t gotten there. You should sit tight until we know for sure that Brock’s at the office.”
“My mom has a bee in her bonnet about getting this resolved.”
“Fine,” Dominic groans. “Everyone knows not to mess with your mom when she’s on a mission.”
“Let me call Brock.” Emily dials Brock’s office number. “Hello, Brock,” she coos and listens. “Yes, this is Emily. I’m calling because I’m looking for a new car. Can you give me a quote on insurance?” She covers the receiver and mouths. “He’s there.”
I turn on my heel and walk toward the kitchen so Brock can’t overhear my conversation. “He’s there.”
“Good. Okay, baby, be careful, I love you.”
“You be careful. No more busted knuckles. I might want another tattoo. Or maybe a piercing.”
“Yeah?” His voice goes down a notch. “I do need to finish your tat.”
“You do? Why? It’s beautiful.”
“I missed a piece.”
“Oh, okay. When this is resolved, I’ll have to stop in and let you do the finishing touches.” I step further out of Emily’s and my mom’s earshot. “I was thinking about getting nipple bars like you have.”
“Darlin’,” he growls. “I’m in the same vehicle as your father and brothers. Do you think it’s a good time to have this discussion and explain how intrigued I am to–”
“Shut the fuck up.” Sam’s voice snaps, and the line goes dead.
I can’t stop a grin from forming. “This is going to be fun.”
When I return to the living room, Emily is pacing the floor. She lifts her finger to silence me. “Jake?”
Her nose wrinkles as she listens to the other person. She called Jake. Holy shit. She tends to avoid him like the plague. “Can you go to Brock’s office? He’s been stalking Bella, and we’re on our way to get a protection order while her dad, Sam, Ben, and Dominic are on their way to confront him.”
Emily listens for a few moments. “Thanks, I owe you one.” She stalks to the door after hanging up on Jake. “Everything’s taken care of. Jake is eight blocks away from Brock’s office.” She waggles her eyebrows and says, “And in case anyone is wondering, according to Brock, it’s $150 a month if I need insurance on a new car.”
“Perfect.” It’s nice to have a little police backup in this situation. Not that I actually fear Brock, but it might finally get it through his thick skull that I’m not interested. And I must giveEmily props for thinking on her feet and calling Brock to make sure he was in the office. She’s nothing if not thorough.
Chapter Thirty
Dominic
Nipple rings? I wasn’t expecting that when I picked up the phone. But now, the only thing I see is her perfect tits adorned with silver hoops or bars in her nipples. My mouth waters as I shift in my seat. The black leather is cold as Lee blasts the air conditioning, and I thank God for that. Otherwise, I’d be on fire about now.
“Son…,” Lee growls as he glares at me out of the corner of his eye while weaving through traffic. “If you keep thinking about my daughter with that expression on your face when you’re sitting by me, I’m taking her to get a protection order from you.”
“Do you think that would work?”
“No. No, I don’t. But seriously, she’s my daughter.”
“And our sister.” Sam claps my shoulder from the back seat.
“Fine. I’ll tone it down, but I’ve waited a long time to be in a relationship with Bella, so I’m….” Excited is too mild of a word to use. Coach Hall honks and waves as we meet him on the road. I clear my throat. “I’m happy.”
