Moments later, I collapse on top of her. “Holy fuck. Sugar, you’re going to kill me.”
She giggles and pulls me up to her mouth. “That’s music to my ears.”
“You’re a sadist.” I shake my head and claim her mouth.
Chapter Twenty-Four
Chloe
Several hours later, Rich, Jenna, and I sit around his living room, eating pizza.
“I can’t believe Tabitha began the whole bet thing over you getting into National Honor Society before her. That’s stupid. But kudos to you for going to confront her.”
“Thank you.” I lean into Rich as we snuggle on the sofa. When he kisses my hair, I sigh. “Although, I’m glad she did. Rich would have never gotten the nerve to ask me out.”
“Don’t say, ‘Never,’ Sugar. I would have eventually come to my senses.”
“Really?” I raise my eyebrows and look up at him.
“Yes, really. Don’t underestimate me. Your sweet ass would have driven me crazy.”
“Gawd, you two are ridiculous.” Jenna rolls her eyes. “I think I liked you better, miserable and depressed, rather than sickeningly sweet.”
Rich reaches into the basket of baked goods I’d brought and grabs a cupcake. “Here, eat some carbs.”
“Shut it.” Jenna grabs the pink iced cupcake and peels down the wrapper. “But I’m not passing up one of Chloe’s cupcakes.”
“Me, either.” Rich leans over and kisses me.
“Fuck. I need to get a hotel.”
I pull back and pat Rich on the arm. “We’ll stop.”
“Speak for yourself. I can’t keep my hands off you.”
The openness in which he shows how he feels about me has me swooning with happiness and delight. He picks me up and sits me on his lap. I giggle as his cock rubs against my ass. Is there such a thing as too much sex? If there is, I’m pretty sure we’re going to go right past it.
I smack his arm and scoot back over to my seat. “Stop it. I haven’t seen Jenna in two months.”
“You might be seeing more of me.” She bites her bottom lip.
“Yeah?” I would love to see my best friend more. The last few years have been rough while we’ve been in two different cities, but I understood Jenna’s choice. Her career was important to her.
“I have an interview at the Plaza hospital on Monday morning.”
“You do?”
“Yes. It’s time to come home.”
“Oh my gosh, that’s fantastic.” I bounce in my seat. “Is this your first interview?”
“No. It’s the third. The other two were over the phone. This one is to meet the doctor I’ll be working for.”
“It sounds like a lock,” Rich says as he laces his fingers through mine.
“It is basically a formality. If we feel we’re compatible, I’ll be moving back home in three months.”
“That’s awesome.” My heart soars even higher. This is a perfect day. Now, I need Jenna and Tony to bury the hatchet and not in each other’s heads. “I can’t believe you and Tony are both back in town at the same time.”
