My nostrils flared as I watched him hug her again, his hands on her back, his body rubbing against hers.
That I had zero right to be jealous didn’t matter one bit. Watching him touch her pissed me right the fuck off.
Mine!
She wasn’t mine. Hell, she couldn’t stand me. It didn’t matter; I couldn’t shake the feeling that Blake was mine to protect. And protect her, I would.
Whether she likes it or not.
“Blake, can I talk to you?” I asked, indicating we needed privacy.
“You don’t need to listen to him,” Fuckface said.
“Blake?” I asked again, this time with some urgency in my voice.
Her other friend was standing behind them, glaring at me. She rubbed Blake’s back and said, “We should call 9-1-1.”
“Blake.” I channeled John to make it clear I was no longer asking.
Blake turned to her friend. “It’s okay. I’ll be right back.”
Her friends continued to glare as Blake turned and stepped up to me. “Fine,” she spat out. “But make it fast.”
Refusing to let my anger take over, I forced my body to relax as I prepared to follow her a few steps away from her friends.
As she brushed past me, her crossed arms resting on her ample chest, the scent of vanilla and wildflowers filled my nose.Holy hell, she smells fucking amazing.
Chapter 7
Blake
Ithought about refusing, because the stupid asshole had just hurt my friend, but I didn’t want him causing a bigger scene. Better to get it over with. Plus, I didn’t want my friends listening.
I probably should have warned them I have a bodyguard.
As soon as we were out of earshot, I said, “What the fuck was that? You’re supposed to protect me, not hurt my friends.”
“I didn’t know he was your friend, and he was sneaking up on you.” He scanned the crowd over my head as he answered. “I did my job.”
“Well, you shouldn’t have.” I crossed my arms over my chest.
“That’s where you’re wrong, Princess. I absolutely should have,” he said. “And just so we’re on the same page, I’ll do it again if I have to.”
Who the fuck does he think he is, calling me Princess?
“Don’t call me Princess, asshole.”
The asshole grinned. “You need to tell your friends that you have a protection detail. Anyone assigned to you would’ve done the same.”
I didn’t think Maxwell would’ve tackled Danny.I hope she's assigned to me sooner rather than later.
“Maxwell wouldn’t have.” I sneered at him.
The asshole ogre had the balls to laugh. “Trust me, she would have. Don’t assume because she’s a woman she’s not willing or capable of taking down assholes who look like they’re about to attack you.”
I rolled my eyes and said, “He wasn’t trying to attack me. How many times do I have to tell you that?”
“How many times do I have to tell you it doesn’t matter what he was trying to do? What matters is what it looked like he was trying to do. He looked like he was going to attack you, and that’s all I had to go on.”
