I don’t move, feeling content where I am. “I like the air up here.”

“I spent three nights on this car, and you’ve only glanced at it.”

“Do you need me to fully inspect your work, or did you do it right?”

“You know I did it right because I’m anal as fuck with shit.”

“Don’t ever say the word anal again, please. It’s weird.”

“Why?”

“Because it is.”

“Have you imagined that I’m some saint that’s never fucked in my life or something?”

“Hell no,” I reply. “I know you’re not. But I’m not waking up in the middle of the night thinking of where your dick is either.”

“Good to know.”

“Let’s stop talking about your small dick now.” Levi scoffs, but doesn’t reply. “How did you get all the parts?”

“You don’t wanna know.”

I pull back, even though I’m not going to give him shit for it. “It’s like that, huh?”

“It’s like that,” he confirms. “I almost feel bad for the motherfucker when he opens his garage to see half his shit missing.”

“Oh, Levi,” I chide lightly with a smirk. “What’s a girl to say when you’ve gone to such lengths?”

“That my length isn’t small, and you haven’t gone your entire life thinkin’ I had small dick energy.”

I smile wider. “I never thought you had small dick energy. Your cock takes all your brain cells and uses them. It’s why you’re so stupid sometimes.”

His greens narrow. “That’s the stupidest shit you’ve ever said to me.”

“I’ll take that.” Unwrapping my legs from around his waist, Levi sets me down on the ground so I can turn and look at the Nova again. “It’s beautiful.”

“It is. Now, you’ll have your own shit to race since I’m not gonna be around.” My eyebrows clash together as I pivot back to him. “I got a job. A big one. Twenty grand, but I’m gonna be gone for a few days.”

“No,” I immediately retort, feeling a twinge of panic rise in my chest. “That instantly screams dangerous and illegal.”

“Astor, that’s all we do.”

I rock my head back and forth, for some reason, not able to wrap my head around it even though—like he said—we’ve done this shit a million times. “Nah, this already sounds like some next-level shit. We don’t need the money like that.”

Levi’s expression contorts. “What do you mean, we don’t need the money like that? Did you change your mind?—”

“No, I just…don’t want you getting in trouble to where it’ll only set us back.”

“You haven’t even heard the job yet.”

I lift my shoulder dismissively. “I don’t care. I know how to count. I’m fully aware of what kind of bullshit getting that much money entails.”

“I’ll have Juice with me.”

My eyebrows pinch. “That’snotreassuring.”

And it’s not because he’s bringing Juice over someone else, it’s because Levi is going to go do something stupid and dangerous. How many more times are we going to get lucky until we can’t take it back?
