“I would usually have asked you to join me but I made a deal with your brother.”

“With Milo.”

“You remember him?” I shake my head no.

“Just a snippet of him from when I was younger.”

“Fair enough. I need you to get a message to that cop friend of yours.” I raise my brow.

“You expect me to believe you’ll get me out of a marriage if I pass on a message.”

“Of course not, that’s just the start. She might listen to the information I have if it comes from you. She’ll never find me, so I’m not worried but I need her to stop sniffing around my trail. I have some business I need to take care of, and she’s making it rather difficult.”

“Fine, I’ll do whatever it takes but I want this marriage stuff sorted out ASAP.”

“We have a deal. I’ll have a car delivered to your house later today. It won’t be trackable by your mother.”

“Back up, my mother has me followed?” I question. Why hasn’t Carter told me?

“Of course she does. That woman is a snake."

“Well how would I have known? No memories, remember?" I say sarcastically, pointing at my head.

“Well be careful, your father trusts her but I haven't for years. I wouldn’t be surprised if she’s behind what happened to you. She hates that your father won’t walk away from this life. He’s the face of the business world, a way we can filter and clean our money.”

“I don’t want to know, the less I know the better. I like Levi's family and there’s no way they’re dirty or would ever be dirty.”

“Never say never.” he laughs. “In the car is an envelope, you need to take it to her today. I’ll make sure Carter is busy so he doesn’t follow you.”

“Can I ask you something?”

“Anything. I just can’t guarantee I can answer.”

“Do you think I killed Milo? When I close my eyes I see his body, and I hear screaming. I see dark figures but I feel like it was me. Why else would I be sent away?”

“It wasn’t you. You two were very close, he would’ve given his life for you. He did give me his life in exchange for yours to keep you out of this business. Your father never wanted his kids to be on this side of the fence. Your father would have had you put away for your own protection. He won’t even talk to me about it, but mark my words when you remember, come to me first. Milo was like a son to me and whoever took him will pay with their lives. If I thought it was you, you would’ve been dead by now.”

“Took him?”

“His body was never discovered. I’ve been waiting for a ransom but have lost hope.”

Our conversation gets cut short as Echo saunters back into the room followed by the guys.

“There’s no way you would beat me in a race, it’s just impossible unless you have extensive training.” Rocky states.

The banter between them stops when my uncle stands. “It was nice to meet you all but time is money. Oh and before I forget. You with the shaved head.” Mercer looks at him, his brows furrowed.

“You’ll be fighting in one of the underground fights. You don’t come into my home and try to rush one of my men.”

“Any time, anywhere.” Mercer states, cracking his knuckles. “No man comes in holding my girl's hand. Let him fight me first since he clearly thinks he has balls.”

“You’re right. Echo will be your first opponent but don’t let his meatless bones fool you, the kid has been underground fighting since he barely hit puberty.”

“Boss man, before you go, ask B to show you her legs.” My uncle's face changes from calm to all out murderous rage. He always looks like you should be afraid of him but this look could make a grown man piss his pants.

“Show me.” He demands and I roll up the leg on one of my leggings.

“Which one?” Echo shrugs.
