“Boyle, what the hell are you doing to her?” I hear Instructor Payne. He isn’t yelling, but he sounds closer now.

“She won’t open her eyes. I was trying to get her to open them.” The Boyle man says.

“Take a step back. I won’t be responsible if her beast lashes out at you. Okay Farlen, take a deep breath and listen to my voice. You are as deep into the shadows as Boyle could get you. I am not sure how dark your glasses are, but I need you to open your eyes so I can try to see if there is any damage.”

“I still see the sun with eyes closed.” I focus and say to him.

“Why does she sound like that, sir?”

“Boyle, not now, please. Okay, Farlen, that is sort of normal when you look at the sun. Usually it goes away after a few minutes, but I don’t exactly know how sensitive your eyes are. Try opening up one eye slowly. Alright good, you can see me now. Is the pain bad?” I shake my head at him. He looks weird, like there’s still the sun right behind him and it makes his body look kind of fuzzy.

“Okay, this eye looks alright, now open up the other eye. This one looks okay, too. I don’t see anything that looks like they are hurt. Do you want me to call Healer Daniel to see if he can help?” I shake my head at him. They hurt, but having them open in here it isn’t too bad.

“Wow, the Scary Lady has scary eyes too.” I look over to the Boyle man. He is standing right behind Instructor Payne. I look into his eyes and another set of eyes from my dreams has a face. His eyes are a deep brown, just like chocolate, but they have the little blue stars in them. He falls to his knees and pulls his head to the side, making it so his throat is sticking out to me.

“AH fuck. Well, that explains his reactions. Farlen, this is Xander Boyle, and if the reason he is reacting like this is the same reason I did almost the same fucking thing, then I’d like to introduce you to your third match.”

Iam sitting here, watching my third semester students attempt to meditate. Most of them just sit there with their eyes closed, thinking that will help them find their inner peace. A few of the others seem to have gotten it. They sit there, with their eyes open, but not seeing anything around them. My phone vibrates in my pocket and I pull it out. There’s one new message from Tony, good I’m finally getting an update on Farlen.

I open the message up and it takes me a few tries of reading it to comprehend it.

Tony: Probably going to need you guys to step in here soon. Some fucking girl took Farlens sunglasses while she was meditating. She was so deep in she didn’t even hear the twat when she ripped the glasses off her face. I’m not sure how bad her eyes are hurt, but we have her deep in the shadows in the trees and she met her third match, well at least I think it’s her third match. He is doing the same shit I did when I met Amy.

As soon as my brain catches onto the message, I look up at the clock eh, it’s only five minutes until the end of the lesson. “Class dismissed, keep practicing finding your inner peace. Everyone’s path to it differs from the rest, so this is your own journey to take. Now get the fuck out of my sight and I will see all of you next week.” I grab my stuff and my phone vibrates again. Another message from Tony.

Tony: Uh yeah, so this is more of a demand for you guys to get her. She’s found a fourth match, and there’s about to be a pissingmatch between a wolf and a dragon shifter.

Fuuuuuuuuuuck. I pull up Connor on my contact list. He answers on the first ring. “What’s up?”

“We need to get to the training yard fast. Bring Farlen some sunglasses. We have a pissed off wolf and dragon shifter to deal with. Tony thinks both are some of her other matches.”

“Fuck, alright I should be there in five minutes.”

“Alright, I will be there in two.”

I run out of the building and head towards the training yard. As soon as I get close enough to see everyone, I search for Farlen. Tony is suddenly in front of me.

“Where’s Connor at?”

“He’ll be here soon. He was at the house.”

“Okay man, I don’t know how to handle all this shit, the shifters I can deal with, but Farlen is pretty scared, they started yelling at each other and some punches got thrown and she curled up in a ball and is shaking pretty bad. I’ve tried to talk to her, but nothing seems to be working.”

“Where is she?” I need to make sure she is alright. Fucking dumbasses are going to get an ass chewing once I know she is alright. Fighting in front of her? Are they fucking insane? Even if she wasn’t as damaged as she was, most centers have a hard time handling fighting in front of them. It’s almost like they can feel every blow themselves.

Tony points me to the trees and I run over that way. Of course he beats me there, fucking shifter. Farlen is curled up as small as she can get and is shaking really badly. I don’t see any marks on her. When I touch her, she flinches away from me. That reaction pisses me off so fucking much.

“Don’t let her see this, Tony.”

I walk towards the two shifters that are being held apart by the rest of the class. I walk over to the smaller one and grab him by the back of the neck like a pup and drag him over to where Farlen is curled up on the ground.

“Do you see what you have done to your match? Look at her, look at what you have fucking done to her. You don’t deservesomeone like her if this is how you are going to react around her.”

He drops to his knees in front of her and just stares at her, his face frozen in a mask of horror. Good, he fucking gets it. Now let’s deal with the big mother fucker. I’m guessing this one is the dragon.
