“Shit, she said a package, not packages! What the hell did she send?”

I don’t know who he is talking about or what a package is. Rhi walks out with square things that have square holes in them. I go sit down at the table. Xander walks out with bacon and my coffee. I get one of the square things because they are big and some bacon. Rhi puts down a lot of the stuff that we had for pancakes. I look around at the guys.

“They are like pancakes, but better! They have little pockets to hold in all the yummy toppings you put on them!” Xander says. He is bouncing around on his feet. I try a bite of it. It does taste like the pancakes, but it is a little crunchier on the outside but the inside is so soft. I put some of the sticky stuff on it and everyone sits down and starts to eat as well. Everyone’s phonestarts to make a rumbly noise. I don’t know where my phone goes when I sleep, so I look around for it. All the guys are looking at their phones and looking back and forth between each other.

“What the fuck does this mean for us?” Vashu asks.

“The fuck she is doing this,” Xander says.

“That’s what all the packages are for. Thanks Mom. I don’t think we can not go. If she’s seen us there and hasn’t seen a way for us not to go, then we better figure out whose stuff is where.” Connor says.

Rhi hasn’t said anything yet, but he is looking at his phone with an angry face.

“What’s going on?”

Everyone looks over at me.

“Uhh, looks like the school has decided to start a ‘new tradition’, as the damn message says. This Sunday they are going to hold a ball, and all the females in the school are going to go before everyone, and wait to see if any new matches show themselves. We aren’t fucking allowed to walk with you, though. We need to stay back in case someone is nervous, its easier to approach a single female that isn’t surrounded by a bunch of guys.” Connor says.

Rhi is still glaring at his phone.

“How does everyone hold the same ball? How big can the ball be if everyone has to hold it?” I can’t even imagine how big it has to be. There were so many people in that big room on the first day.

“Not that kind of ball. It’s a dance but way fancier. There will be music and fancy food and shit there.” Xander says.

“Music!? Okay!”

Rhi looks up to me finally. He doesn’t look like he likes the phone right now. But everyone groans and then starts eating their food again. I ate almost two of the squares on my plate, but I can’t eat the rest of it. I push my plate away from me and sit there watching the guys. They all eat so much food. I thought Connor ate a lot, but watching Xander and Vashu eat, I don’t think that anymore. I don’t know how they fit so much foodinto their bodies. Connor ate three of the big squares. Xander is eating his sixth one, but looks like he is slowing down. Vashu is on his thirteenth one. He keeps looking around the table, but there are no more big squares.

Connor stands up and grabs my plate and the empty plates on the table and takes them to the kitchen. I see him slide my squares into something and then put the plates into the sink. He grabs the things around the kitchen that Rhi used to make breakfast and puts them in the sink, too.

“What’s Connor doing?”

Vashu reaches over and puts his hand on my leg. And gives it a little squeeze.

“He’s doing the dishes, little one. He woke up last, so he has to clean them.”

“I don’t understand what that means.”

Vashu looks around and Xander smiles at me.

“It’s like he’s giving the dishes a bath to get them clean so we can use them again for dinner.”

“Oh! I can do it! I like taking baths. Do the dishes like baths too?”

Vashus’ hand on my leg gets tighter.

“Nope, you’re not doing it, and the dishes don’t feel anything but we like it when they are clean.” When everyone is done eating, they take their plates to Connor, and he cleans them, too. He comes out when he is done.

“Well, everyone might as well go figure out what the hell my mom sent. I have a feeling it has to do with this damn ball.”

Everyone walks into the chair room and begins looking at boxes.

“This one has your name on it, Connor,” Xander says and points at a box. He walks over to it and everyone starts moving the boxes around and turning them. They hand boxes to each other. There is one box left that no one has said anything about.

“Little one, this one’s for you.”

I walk over and grab the box. It’s big, but not as big as their boxes. Everyone starts to walk to their rooms with their boxes. So I take mine to my room too. I’m not sure what I’m supposed to do with it though, so I just set it down on my bed. I hear a phone make rumbly noises and look around. On one of the small tables next to my bed, there is my phone. I grab it and there is a new message from Sharron.
