“Kitten,” he starts slowly, inching closer like a predator sniffing out his prey. He places his hand on my thigh and starts inching it up, up, up until he’s dangerously close to feeling how hard I am. “Did you come prepared like a good boy?”

Beginning to shake, I nod. “Y-Yes.”

“And please tell me that noise left your lips because you’re stuffed, stretched, and ready for me.”

“S-Shane,” I stutter breathlessly, avoiding eye contact with him. “I…”

He closes the space between us, scooting closer and closer until I feel the heat of him pressed against me. He tucks his face into my neck and takes a deep breath, the action making goosebumps break across my skin. “I’m going to kiss you now.”

Even nervous as shit, I can’t help but agree. I nod ever so slightly and that’s all it takes. Shane’s lips find mine and my entire body calms, leaving me with a feeling of serenity. My racing heart slows, my nervous hands stop shaking, and my veins flood with desire. I’ve never felt this response to a kiss, but I know I want more.

I need this feeling to last. I need him to take control and make my decisions for me. I need to get lost in the euphoria that is Shane.

All my doubts cast aside, I wrap my arms around his torso, tugging him closer, and settling his body against mine. He takes the hint and straddles me, his thighs spread wide around my waist as he deepens our kiss.

We sit there like that for what seems like hours. We’re tucked into the end of the couch, kissing and dry humping, and while I’m enjoying it, I’m losing my patience. I need to feel him inside me. I’m desperate for it like I never have been for anything else in my life. My worries have withered away with time, and I’m ready to make the first move.

“Please,” I beg against his mouth, breathing in his shocked gasp.

He slowly ends our kiss, leaning back, and staring at me with heavy lids. “What do you need, kitten? Tell me and it’s yours.”

CHAPTER SEVEN

Shane

One lookat Beau tonight and I was done for.

When I opened the door and saw him standing there in his tight grey sweatpants, that beanie he loves, and holding a beautiful bouquet of roses, I knew tonight would be perfect. Seeing him again settled me, wiped away all residual fears of abandonment, and turned this dreaded holiday into a day I’ll never forget.

Talking with Micah earlier stirred up old memories, bringing them to the forefront of my mind, and causing me to dwell on them for hours. My mind took me through an unwanted visual of the day Jace left me. Replaying his harsh words, the blame he tossed my way, and the shame he flooded me with.

It had to take a lot of courage for Beau to show up here tonight. He was so skittish at the store that I truly expected him to flake. When he flinched as he sat on the couch with me, I almost lost my damn mind. He did exactly as I asked. He was such a good boy. It shows me that he wants me and he’s willing to do what I asked of him to prove it.

“Please,” he repeats, holding my gaze, his eyes glossed over behind those adorable glasses. He lifts his hips again, his hard cock grazing mine, and damn I need more of it. I need all of him.

Not so quickly, though. If I only get one night with him, I want to drag this out into delicious torture. I knock his beanie off so I can thread my fingers through his soft hair. “In the spirit of Valentine’s Day, I thought we could play a little game to get things started. Are you familiar with Uno, kitten?”

He’s confused for a moment before asking, “The card game?” I nod and he continues. “I mean, yeah. I haven’t played since I was young, but I could give it a shot.”

“Great. It’s settled then.” I rise from his lap—albeit reluctantly—and open the end table drawer, tossing the box of cards to him.

A quick glance down has his cheeks turning red.

Oh, yeah. Did I forget to mention this is averyspecial version?

“Cat got your tongue?” I tease, delighting in his adorably terror-stricken expression. “It’s romantic, you know? For the holiday of love and all that bullshit.”

As Beau lifts the box to turn it over, I notice a slight tremble in his hands. He should know by now to expect the unexpected from me. I mean, I did ask him for a one-night fuck in the middle of a sex shop?

I take a seat next to him and snatch the box to open it, looking for the directions to explain the rules to him before we begin. I wag my brows at him once I explain how to play. “Ready?”

He nods through a gulp and mirrors my position on the other side of the coffee table. “Yeahhhh.”

I want to chuckle at the utterenthusiasmin his voice but refrain in fear of embarrassing him. While I like to tease, I really do want him to be comfortable. It’s part of the reason we’re playing this game. Just to let loose for a minute. We’ll draw cards, do the stupid dares, and have a good time. I draw a cardand see that I have the first dare to complete. I flip the card and snort when I see what it is. “Bark like a chihuahua.”

His eyes widened in horror as if that was the worst thing he could imagine.

Please.
