“Ah, shit. I’ve got to get home soon.”

“Go jump in the shower. I’ll make us some breakfast.”

“Will do.”

She rolls to her stomach, my softening erection easing out of her with a plop as she moves away. I watch her get up and move toward the bathroom, admiring the silky shine of sex left behind on her inner thighs.

My stomach grumbles and I grunt as I sit up.Time to make some food.

The rest of the morning was relatively uneventful. We ate breakfast, then she kissed me goodbye and left with a promise to let me know when she was home.

True to her word, she sent a message once she arrived, but then went silent. She’s probably dealing with her worried parents,I rationalize.Don’t take it personally. I know she has been through a devastating ordeal the last few days, and she can’t exactly be open with her family about everything that happened.Or about me,I realize. There’s a twinge in my gut as the hurt I felt when she told me the situation tries to arise, but I quickly brush it aside. She loves me. There’s no reason to be petty.

I took a few days off work in case she needed me, so I have some time to kill. I look around my living room and notice for the first time just how sparse it is. I grab paper and a pen and begin to make a list of things that would make my place feel more like a home.

I pull out my laptop and start browsing, looking for paintings, pictures, drapes, throw pillows, and other accessories to liven up my space. I quickly realize how deeply in over my head I am. I need a woman’s opinion.

I add items I like to my cart, making a mental note to ask Mina what she thinks before I buy anything. I want her to like the things I get. As I close my laptop, my phone rings. It’s her. I snatch it up and answer, unable to stop the smile that spreads across my face.

“Hey baby!”

The smile fades quickly when I hear what she says.

“Hey! So, this is kind of last minute and you can totally say no, but my parents want you to come to dinner tonight.”

Shit. Shit shitshit.“Oh, damn. Why?”

“They want to meet you and thank you for being kind enough to let them know about my accident. I told them you checked on me at the hospital, and that you made sure I had everything I needed.”

“Shit.”

“I know. You can say no.”

I sigh deeply. “No, I’ll come. Send me your address. What time is dinner?”

She quickly fills me in on the details and says goodbye. I lean back on my couch and rub my hands over my face. Guess I’m headed into the lion’s den.

CHAPTER 25: MINA

I hang up the phone and take a deep breath, attempting to release some of the anxiety bubbling in the pit of my stomach. Alex is coming here, to meet my family.

It’s not so bad, a little voice in my mind urges. He’s fantastic, they will love him.

I take another deep breath and flop down on my bed. Yeah, they’ll love him as long as they don’t find out the truth about him. I glance over at my closet, debating what to wear. I want to look good, but not so good that my parents are suspicious. Hot, but not sexy. It’s going to be tough trying to maintain my composure with him here. I know I’m going to want to immediately jump his bones. Just being near him sends my body into overdrive like I’m some sort of sex-crazed animal. It's a bit ridiculous, but I can’t help it. He nourishes me, body and soul.

I get up and move to the bathroom and open my makeup drawer. I’ll start with this, then decide what to wear.

I pace the front hall nervously. He should be here any minute, and my heart is racing. A soft knock at the door makes my stomach flutter. He’s here.

I reach for the handle and pause, not wanting to seem too eager. I count to five, then open it. He’s standing there in a clean suit, his dress shirt unbuttoned slightly. He looks like a dream. I was right, I want to jump his bones here and now, and leave his suit scattered down my hallway. I swallow hard and smile at him.

“Hey stranger!”

“Hey!” He glances into the house and then leans down to give me a quick kiss.

My heart flutters. He’s wearing cologne, and I want to wrap myself around him and just breathe him in.

“I’m glad you could make it.” I take him by the hand and lead him inside. “This is my house!”
