“Come on, it could be fun. It’s been ages since we’ve gone to a party together… or really, done anything together. You got a whole man up in your business and forgot all about me.”

“I guess I have been pretty preoccupied lately.”

“I’m not blaming you at all, I don’t want you to think I am. Life is nuts, I know that. I just miss my Mina time.”

“And I miss my Katie time.”

“Soooo… it’s a date?”

“It’s a date,” I promise her.

“Sweet! We can pregame at my place if you want.”

“Only if you get those tiny tequila bottles I love so much.”

“Um, is there any other way to pregame? I’ll have them.”

“Score.”

“So what are you up to now?”

“I’m at Alex’s place, just got out of the shower actually.”

“Ooohhh do tell. Had to shower all that filthy sex off?”

“Actually…” I let my voice trail off in an intentional tease.

Katie squeals in response. “I knew it! Girl, you’re a freak for this man. I love that for you.”

“I love it for me too, trust me. It’s like he’s unlocked some secret sex-crazed monster inside me that I didn’t even know was there!”

“I could have told you it was,” Katie quips.

“No kidding. Anyway I gotta run, but we will do a full face-to-face catch up sesh soon, ok?”

“We better. And Halloween will be epic.”

“You bet. Love you, Girl!”

“Love you, Bitch.”

I finish drying off and head back into the bedroom. Alex isn’t there, but I can hear him rummaging around in the kitchen. I get dressed and make my way out there to see he’s got a little snack table all set up.

“Hey! Figured we could have some snacks, and I could tell you about something I did today.”

“Oh, what did you do today? Something exciting happen after I went home?”

“Kind of. It happened on my way out the door.”

I grab a handful of chips and nod at him. “Alright, I’m listening. What happened?”

“I may or may not have threatened to kill Jason.”

I almost choke on the chip in my mouth when I inhale sharply. “Excuse me, you did what?”
