“You’re the one with a crush on Teen Wolf,” I tease her. One of my favorite pastimes.
“He’s hilarious! I can’t help it! Looks only last for so long – a funny guy with a great personality is for life.”
“So you’re saying I can go bald and get fat and ugly and you wouldn’t care as long as I make you laugh?”
“You’re pretty sure of yourself to assume I think you have a good personality.”
“Ouch.”
“Miss me?” How could I not? The time I spent with her in Chicago went way too fast. But just like before I surprised her on her door step, every chance we get, we talk one way or another, getting to know each other better.
“Nah. Now I spread out all over my bed. I don’t have to share my pizza with anyone. It’s awesome.”
“Now you’re just being mean. At least I can admit that I miss you.”
“Who’s yours?”
“Blake Lively. Obviously.”
“Ethan?”
“Yeah?”
“I miss you.”
“Was that so hard to admit?”
Chapter 21
Olivia
“What’s on your bucket list?”It might seem like a dumb question but these are important things! What if he wants to own a tarantula or marry a woman with hairy legs? I mean, there’s a limit to what I’m willing to live with.
“You start.”
“Just a second. You can’t see me, but I’m cracking my knuckles, preparing myself for this.” He laughs and I can picture his head thrown back the way he does when he finds me really amusing. I wish I were there with him. “I want to like sushi. Spend a few weeks in Greece, maybe Italy, too.”
“That’s it?”
Ha! Hardly. “Oh no. Not even close. Walk a marathon.”
“Walk? Not run?”
“Hell no! I’m not a lunatic.” I laugh.
“But you’d walk twenty-six miles?”
“Sure, why not? Forrest Gump did it.”
“Technically he ran it. He also bought a shrimp boat. Planning to do that, too?”
“Pssh. Obviously.”
“What else?” he asks.
“Be brave enough to publish. What’s on yours?”
“Greece. Italy. Finding some sushi that doesn’t make me gag. Hold your hand while you gain the courage to publish.”
