“Not even a ‘hey, how’s it going first’?”
“Hi, sunshine. How are you? Are you having a good day? Have a good poop lately? Can I order you some tampons? Did you want me to pet your head, tell you you’re pretty too?”
I bark out a laugh. “Aww, you really do care.”
“Pussy.”
“Fuckwad.”
“Now that we’ve got the pleasantries out of the way, answer my question.”
I briefly consider saying that sheisdriving me crazy, but not in the way he’s asking about.
“No, she’s not.”
There’s a pause before he replies. “Well, that’s good. So things are going good?”
He’s fishing for information but at this point, I feel like he deserves to hear how I feel. “Yes.”
“So you gave up banging randoms.”
“What the fuck, Owen? You sound like a high school kid. What the hell’s wrong with you?”
He chuckles and I can just imagine him grinning on the other end. “I can’t stop myself.”
“How about you try.”
“Seriously, why are your panties in such a wad?”
I groan, scrub a hand over my face. “Fuck me. I won’t be able to get you to shut up, will I?”
“Tell me what I want to know and it’ll shut me up.”
“I feel like if I looked at you right now you’d be twisting a mustache or cleaning a gun or something.”
“Possibly.”
“You want the truth?”
“Obviously, dumbass.”
“I like her.” I admit.
“Glad to hear it.”
“Just in case I wasn’t being clear, not just as friends.”
“Ha! I kind of gathered that. I’m not a complete idiot.”
“Are you okay with us, I don’t know, being together?” I ask.
“Are you going to break her heart?”
I glower at a spot on the wall. “No.”But she might break mine.
“Then I’m cool with it. I told Liv, you two would be lucky to have each other and I meant it.”
“I should probably admit that we’ve never defined anything.”
