Heat rushes to my cheeks from the pure sin in his gaze. “Maybe I need a reminder.”
Connor’s eyes blaze, and then his mouth is crashing against mine in a kiss. I whimper, tangling my fingers in his hair to hold him close as our tongues duel. He nips at my lower lip, sending sparks ricocheting through my nerve endings.
“Insatiable,” he growls against my lips. “I could fuck you all night, and you’d still beg for more, wouldn’t you?”
A thrill zings through me at his filthy words. “Why don’t you put your money where your mouth is?”
“Tonight, Blue.” He grins wickedly. “Don’t move.” He kneels down, cleaning me up with a tissue.
“Thanks.”
“My pleasure.” He buckles his belt while I put myself back together.
Slip, skirt, blouse.
When I’m decent again, I walk over to him, winding my arms around his neck. He doesn’t hesitate to claim my lips again.
I melt into it, savoring the taste of him, the warmth of his embrace. But I know we’ve already pushed our luck, and if we’re not careful, we’ll get caught.
“See you later.” I punctuate my words with a playful slap to my backside as I head for the door.
“Run before I drag you back in here and fuck that attitude right out of you.”
“You’ll have to catch me first.”
Laughter follows me out the door, rich and warm.
I make it ten steps down the hall before I’m accosted by Jill, a coworker from the events team. “Mary! There you are. We’re all going out for drinks after work to celebrate the success of our event. You in?”
“Sure, that sounds like fun.”
“Great!” Jill grins. “Drinks are on me since you helped so much with the Spring Gala.”
“Would it be alright if I invite someone else? From IT?”
Jill’s grin widens. “You mean the brooding hottie consultant? Be my guest!”
“His name is Connor.” Off-limits Jill.
Ridiculous, I know, since I have no claim over him. After all, it isn’t like Connor and I are together together. We’re just two coworkers burning off tension.
Repeatedly.
In supply closets, empty conference rooms, the server room… Long run. But how is keeping it a secret in the long run?
“Well, maybe I’ll get lucky, and Connor will finally notice me.” She winks at me. “Or did you already get your shot?”
“No, we’re just friends. Colleagues.” The last thing I need is for our illicit affair to become office gossip.
Jill pouts but lets it go. “Alright, well, drinks are at six. Meet you in the lobby?”
“See you then.”
After Jill leaves, I message Connor to join us.
Mary: Meet me downstairs after work. We’re going to have drinks with the team *beer emoji*
