Things are going great at work, and I've really settled into my role. However, my passion for teaching still lingers. Every time I read, I'm reminded of my desire to introduce young people to literature and inspire them to consider the possibility of writing their own stories one day. Having Zane by my side, guiding me and encouraging me to fulfill my dreams, is something I'm truly grateful for. I'm in no rush, but I have the best teacher to show me the way.
Since Zane was teaching today, I wanted to surprise him by moving in a day early while he wasn't here. I even asked Tobias for help, and he was happy to show up for me.
Opening the front door, we carefully carry a few of the boxes inside. Tobias insisted on doing most of the heavy lifting. While he shows himself to the world as nothing more than a fuck boy, I know better than that.
One day, he's going to give someone his heart, and she better handle it with care, or I'll kick her ass.
"Thanks for helping me today."
"Anytime, Blondie." I hand him a bottle of water and sit beside him at the kitchen island.
"So, how's it going with Amelia?" I ask, and he gives me the side-eye as he removes the bottle cap and drinks, his Adam's apple bobbing up and down. "That good, huh?"
"It's fine, but my dad's a fucking ass for the way he's forced this on us."
"Did you tell him that before or after he bought you that beauty out there?"
"It's the least he could do."
"I need to meet this girl. Maybe she can give me tips on how to piss you off enough that you don't want to hang out with me anymore."
"Fuck you, Blondie. You love me, and you know it."
"Yeah, like a brother."
"You keep telling yourself that when it's my face you see when you look up at Calloway." I face him, my mouth agape as I release a laugh. "Yeah, okay, that was too far, my bad." He laughs before nudging me. "I actually like the guy, but that stays between us."
"What's it worth?"
"I'll let you drive my baby sometime."
"Deal."
The bond between Tobias and me has grown beautifully over the last few months. He shows me a side of himself that I don't think many people see, and the mutual trust and respect between us allow us to be entirely ourselves, and there's never any judgment.
After he found out about Zane, I found comfort in confiding in Tobias. Although Jen helped me more than I could ever thank her for, Tobias helped me stay grounded. He prevented me from spiraling and getting lost in my thoughts. He listened to me and distracted me, staying by my side for hours. Since then, he's been nothing but supportive of my relationship with Zane.
Even Zane likes him.
There was a time when he would've wanted to rip Tobias apart, but knowing just how good a friend he was to me after he left won him his respect—however, that wouldn't have been the case if Tobias had consoled me with his cock.
"You need anything else, Blondie?"
"How are you at unpacking?"
"Yeah, you'll be sucking me off before I help you with anything like that." Looking at his phone, he quickly fires off a message. "Speaking of, I've got a date, so I'm gonna leave you with it."
"Who's the unlucky girl?"
"Roxy Chambers, and just so you know, she fucking loved it the first time, and her mouth was just…" He smirks and shakes his head, lost in memory—a memory I don't need the details of. However, that hasn't stopped him before.
"Fine, get out of here. Enjoy getting blown."
He leans in, and his lips brush against my cheek. "Thanks, Blondie. I'll catch you later."
As he heads toward the front door, I trail behind him. Clad in black jeans and a tight-fitting black T-shirt that emphasizes his muscular arms—arms that I certainly appreciate—he slips into the driver’s seat, and I watch him drive off in a car that I can’t wait to get behind the wheel of.
After Tobias left, I spent the rest of my time unpacking all my belongings before preparing a surprise celebratory dinner for Zane, who has no clue about any of this yet.
