T: Are you asking me for date three, Professor?

"All I know is he didn't come home last night." I return to the conversationafter hearing Harry speak.

"He'll run out of women to screw soon," I add.

Tobias lives with Harry and Erik, and despite always being good to me, he's a manwhore whofucks anything with a pussy and a pulse.

"He hasn't had you yet."

"He won't be getting me either." I give Harry the side-eye, and he says nothing else about it.

Tobias is a flirt, and I'm used to the way he approaches me, but he's not who I want. He doesn't make me feel the way I want to feel.

The way Zane makes me feel.

The buzzing in my lap distracts me yet again.

Z: I am, so will you let me take you to dinner?

Chapter 8

Tessa

Zane and I haven't stopped messaging since the night he kissed me.

Z: How was your day? P.S. When you're ready, I want to touch you.

I'm staring at his last message on my phone, and I can't stop myself from getting excited about my date with him later tonight. Unfortunately, I fell asleep before I could respond, but god, I want him to touch me. I'm ready—nervous as hell, but ready.

T: Can you wait till date five? I'd like to torture you for another two dates first.

As the morning light pours through the window, I stretch out on my bed, still holding my phone in my hand as it buzzes.

Z: If you torture me, then I'll touch you without laying a finger on you all damn night.

T: You promise? Because I really enjoyed that the last time.

Z: I promise the last thing you'll be feeling is enjoyment. It'll be frustration, desperation, and an ache that'll make you crave my touch, and by the time I'm done, you'll be begging for me to put my hands on you. Now, you're a huge distraction, and I have a lot to do today. I'll pick you up at seven.

T: Good luck with your classes today, Professor.

I put on a pair of light gray jeans and my favorite black off-the-shoulder sweater. After spending a few minutes straightening my hair, I tuck it back behind my ears and slip my shoes on. Once I make sure that I have everything I need, Jen and I set out on our journey toward campus.

I first met Jen when we were randomly assigned to share a tiny dorm room. Despite being a little nervous, we hit it off right away and realized we had a lot in common. From there, our bond grew stronger, and we started to dream of a future where we could read books, travel the world, and binge-watch TV shows together.

After leaving our cramped dorm, we were lucky to find a cute little house just a few blocks from campus. When we first moved in, the walls were blank, and the space was empty, ready to be filled with life. Over a few months, we completely transformed it into a warm and girly space, using shades of pink and lavender to turn it into a little haven, cherishing every moment we spent there.

"Can you believe we're nearly done with this place?" Jen asks.

As I look up at the building, I can't help but notice how much smaller it looks than when I first came here. "I think I'm going to miss it. It'll be strange not having to come here every day."

"I think I will too."

As we continue our stroll, Jen shares her ever-growing list of things she'll miss and not miss about her student life.

"I won't miss being a waitress, but I will miss the puppies." Jen has been working at a small dog cafe in the city for a few years, while I work on campus in the student library a few days a week. "I've already started manifesting a job for myself right after graduation."

"I know you haven't heard anything from your applications yet, but we still have a while before we graduate. They might be holding on until you're ready."
