Page 46 of Until We Meet Again

"Bullshit. Want to go to the movies? There's a few of us going."

"She'll think about it."

Fucking Jen! I swear I'm going to shove her shake up her ass the minute Tobias leaves.

Before I can object, he stands up, revealing a glimpse of his inked chest beneath his partially unbuttoned shirt. He lifts his shake to his mouth, takes a sip, then makes his way back to his table. As I watch where he sits, I notice the group of assholes that surround him, with Ashlee being one of them.

"He seriously has the worst friends."

"He does, but he's harmless."

"You date him then," I reply, watching as she takes another large biteof her burger.

"He only wants you, Blondie." Her smirk is impossible to ignore, so I turn my attention to the jukebox beside me, push a dollar into the slot, and select a song from the playlist.

"I'm going to start looking for a new best friend."

"You'd never do it."

"Call me Blondie one more time," I threaten, and she laughs.

As I stand in front of the bathroom mirror, brushing my damp hair, surrounded by a misty cloud of steam, my phone starts to buzz on the counter. Wearing nothing but a fluffy purple towel, I reach for it and smile the instant I see that it's Zane.

Z: I hope you're okay, sweetheart. You busy tonight? P.S. I fucking love how my sheets smell since you've been in them.

T: I'm going to the movies. What are your plans, Professor?

I send my reply, open the tube of toothpaste, and start brushing my teeth. By the time I finish rinsing, he's already messaged me back.

Z: I'll probably spend the night with my cock in my hand, imagining you on your knees again. I'll be in all night if you want to come over when you're done. No pressure.

T: You're such a tease, but please let me watch that one day. Send me the address, and I'll come over when it's finished.

I'm downstairs waiting for Jen twenty minutes later, and I'm already regretting my decision to go to the movies tonight. But when Harry and Erik said they'd come with us, I was much morewilling, because hanging out with them makes everything more bearable.

"Ready to go?" I ask as Jen saunters into the room, adding lip gloss to her flawless face.

"Yeah, let's get this over with." I straighten up, gather my things, and head to the front door, flashing her a skeptical smile. "It'll be fun."

Chapter 21

Tessa

As soon as we arrive at the movie theater and I see some of the fuckwitshere, I almost turn and walk straight back out of the revolving door.

Erik, Harry, Tobias, Josh, Chad, and fucking Ashlee.

"Hey, Blondie, over here," Tobias calls us over as he waves his hand.

I have my limits when it comes to social skills, and faking friendships or hiding my true feelings isn't exactly my strong suit. My facial expressions generally convey my emotions so well that words are usually unnecessary.

It's not so much a resting bitch face, but more of a resting I-hate-your-energy-and-don't-want-to-be-around-you face.

We walk toward the group, and Erik pulls me into his embrace, casually draping an arm around me and forming a barrier between Tobias and me. Even though he disguises it well, never really letting that cool exterior slip, I can see the irritation on Tobias’s face at Erik’s territorial behavior.

"Let's go find our seats.I don't want tomiss the trailers." Chad's voice echoes across the room. He's an absolute beast, standing well over six feet tall and built like a fucking mountain, and we couldn't ignore him if we tried. He plays football with Erik, and although I don't know him particularly well, he's always been friendly toward me.

Jen sits next to me, while Tobias sits on the other side, creating a nice little space between Ashlee and me. Even though I'm trying to distance myself from her, I can still hear everything she's saying.
