Page 85 of Until We Meet Again

"If you're wondering if I'm dating, the answer is no, not right now."

I have no idea if that was the right answer.

"I don't know how you ignore all the girls on campus who would happily be a piece of ass for you." He laughs, and I've never wanted to punch someone harder.

"For the love of God, David."

"I'm playing. Zane knows I'm not being serious." He laughs it off, but Catherine still looks at him with disgust. I guarantee he'd fuck a student given half a chance. He most likely did it back in the day when he could still get his dick hard.

Whatever Nancy is about to say next fades into a muffled sound when my attention turns to Tessa, who stands betweentwo guys. The one who wanted to walk her straight down "let me find out how you taste" alley, and another guy who's roughly the same height as douchebag number one but much bigger and looks like your typical jock.

She looks stressed, her eyes darting frantically between them as they shout over her. I'm on the verge of walking over to her when I see her throw her hands in the air in frustration. My eyes follow her every step as she walks away from the table with purpose, and I watch her head toward the restrooms.

There is absolutely no way, and I mean no fucking way, that anything is going to prevent me from grabbing hold of this opportunity. I flash a polite smile as I excuse myself from the table and follow in her direction.

Chapter 37

Tessa

Tobias guides me back inside, and when I rejoin the group, I make a conscious decision to sit as far away from Ashlee as possible, or I'm likely to punch her in the face.

Several minutes later, Tobias comes back with a tray of shots. I easily down two of them before realizing that having more will only result in me crawling home. I refuse to get that wasted or be the girl who dies from choking on her own vomit because she drank herself to death over some guy.

I feel Jen's hand clasp mine, and as I turn to face her, she gives me a sympathetic smile. We both know tonight's going down like the Titanic, minus a young and beautiful Leo.

"You okay?" she asks.

"I called him when I went outside."

"I wish I knew how to help you," she whispers, her voice carrying the weight of her concern. "But I do know that not owning up to your feelings is messing you up." I nod, agreeingbecause she's absolutely right. "You can figure out what's best for you once you've spoken to him and know what he wants."

"Yeah."

"Or he could screw everything up and show up at the bar you're sitting in."

"What?" She nods at the door, and I watch him stride in with such confidence that it takes my breath away. His eyes sweep the room, and I know he's only looking for me.

When he finds me, his entire frame relaxes, but only briefly, before the intensity returns to his gaze. "Shit, this is not good."

"Teachers in the house!" Josh yells like the fucking dipshit he is, and Tobias looks like he's about three seconds away from beating his ass.

"You better be on your best behavior now." Harry's eyes crinkle as he laughs hard and slaps Josh on the back, knowing that he'll be the problem amongst everyone here.

"I don't think so. They're in our bar," Ashlee says, making the most enormous bitch face. "Besides, can you even imagine what a drunk Calloway would do to me if I got him alone?"

"Probably call the police on your stalker ass." I'm so over her and her bullshit that I don't care what insult she wants to throw at me next.

"I've had about enough of you, Tessa."

"Feeling’s mutual."

I turn away from Ashlee when Erik sits next to me, gently draping his arm around the back of my chair. "Are you okay? You don't seem yourself tonight."

Jen leans over me before I even get a chance to respond. "It's her period."

"Oh, sorry, my bad."

"What the hell?" I'm staring at my best friend with my eyes wide open.
