“Yeah, now you have to be careful of stingray stingers and the possible shark bite,” I remarked sarcastically.

The guide gave a brief demonstration after handing out equipment to those who wanted to snorkel. Only a few opted not to get in, and even though I was a tad apprehensive, I chose to go in.

You only live once, right?

I stayed close to Cohen as we snorkeled. The guide got in the water with us and started feeding the stingrays, who went crazy for whatever he was feeding them.

“They’re like a bunch of ducks with pieces of bread,” I said with a laugh.

The stingrays glided around us, keeping their distance for the most part. “They move so fast,” I observed.

The guide held a stingray and waded around, asking if we wanted to touch it. Of course, Cohen didn’t hesitate. “C’mon, guppie, they won’t bite. You can see its mouth right there.”

I shook my head with a laugh. I ran my hand along the back of the stingray and almost immediately pulled away. “Ugh, it’s so slimy.”

Cohen chuckled as he continued to pet the stingray. “Yeah, but it’s not every day that you get to pet a stingray.”

“True. Did you know stingrays don’t have any bones in their body? All they have is cartilage.”

Cohen pulled his hand away as the guide moved on to another snorkeler. “I did not, but it makes sense, though. You brushing up on your marine biology?”

“I’ve been doing some research,” I answered. “I want to be prepared, and I’m really excited to finally start a career and my life.”

The way Cohen looked at me made butterflies flood my stomach, like I was something special instead of a reformed junkie. He made me feel like the most beautiful woman in the world. “I’m excited for you. It’s an amazing feeling to find your passion.”

I knew he was referring to work, but thoughts of us tangled in each other with nothing but our skin between us flashed in my mind. I hadn’t felt so alive before meeting Cohen, and I worried that once things ended, I’d be worse off than I was before. Stuck in an endless drug withdrawal with no remedy.

I pushed the thoughts from my mind and focused on the present. I was in French Polynesia in some of the most beautiful waters in the world, swimming with the hottest man I’d ever met amongst tropical fish and stingrays.

I was pretty damn lucky.

Thankfully, I didn’t see any sharks as we snorkeled. Once we were finished, we got back on the boat and turned our gear in, then dried off.

“No injuries today,” I teased as we sat down.

“Thankfully, no. Although I did like how you took care of me yesterday,” he said, leaning in close to whisper in my ear. “That was the best blow job of my life.”

My cheeks heated as I remembered the day before. I may have been drunk, but the alcohol had let me loosen up a bit. Not to mention, I enjoyed going down on Cohen. I bit my bottom lip. “I’m glad you enjoyed it.”

“Stop that,” he said under his breath, glancing at my mouth. “You’re going to make my dick hard.”

I giggled. “Sorry.”

When we got back to the shuttle, I dreaded going back to the boat. We would be stuck on the ship for five days before getting to Hawaii, and I wasn’t looking forward to it in the slightest.

I glanced over at Cohen. At least I had great company and amazing sex to help me get through it.

Cohen must have sensed my mood because he asked, “Everything okay?”

“Yeah,” I fibbed. “Just dreading the sea days ahead of us.”

He nudged me with his elbow. “You know I’ll make it worth your while.”

My abdomen coiled with want. “I know. But five days is a long time to be stuck on a boat. Even with incredible sex.”

Cohen laughed. “True. We’ll make the most of it.”

What I didn’t say was that I also dreaded that the cruise was getting closer to the end. And that meant losing Cohen.
