Cohen chuckled, placing a hand on my thigh. Other people began to fill in the remaining seats around us, and I couldn’t believe there had been over two thousand people sharing the Cultural Center with us that day.

From the moment the show began, we were both enthralled by it. The dancing, special effects, pyrotechnics, and story were all stunning, unlike anything I’d ever seen before. The performance was like an epic movie come to life, and the emotion portrayed was palpable.

Once the ninety-minute spectacle was over, the entire crowd gave a standing ovation. I clapped and cheered as Cohen whistled.

“That was just wow,” I commented as we slowly made our way through the crowd to one of the exits. “I can’t even really think of a good enough word for it; spectacular, I guess.”

Nodding his agreement, Cohen let out a soft laugh. “Yeah, there aren’t many words to accurately describe how great that was.” He glanced at me and smiled. “But spectacular comes close.”

My cheeks heated under his gaze. I felt like he was referring to more than just the show, but I could’ve been imagining it. “Yeah.”

We chatted about the performance all the way back to the car. Cohen went to open my door but hesitated with his hand on the handle.

My brow furrowed as I looked up at him. “What’s wrong?”

“I’m not ready for this night to end,” he responded.

My heart started to race; my stomach twisting with hope. I bit my bottom lip. “I’m not either, but our flights are in a couple of hours.”

He shrugged. “Then let’s change them. We can leave tomorrow instead.”

I frowned even though I wanted to stay with him. “What about the change fees?”

Cohen released the door and faced me. “Do you want to stay another night with me?”

More than anything.“Yes.”

Taking my hands in his, he grinned. “Then I’ll take care of it. We can get a hotel for the night and leave tomorrow.”

I wanted to jump for joy, but I stopped myself. My mind told me that we were prolonging the inevitable, and it would just make things harder in the end, but my heart wanted as much of Cohen as it could get. “Okay.”

His face beamed with happiness, and he squeezed my hands. “Great. I’ll change our tickets when we get to the hotel.”

Cohen booked us a room at a really nice hotel with a balcony overlooking the ocean.

As soon as we walked in, Cohen set our bags down and took out his wallet. He took out Cara’s list and unfolded it, then smoothed it out on the table.

He stared down at it and sighed. “It’s always bittersweet, you know?”

My heart ached for him, and I wanted nothing more than to take his pain away.

He picked up one of the hotel pens from the table and marked on the paper. “Another one down, Care Bear.”

I waited until he put the pen down and put the list away before extending my hand to him. “Come outside with me.”

When we reached the balcony door, I released Cohen’s hand. I walked out and gazed out at the dark sea. “Too bad we aren’t spending more time here. I bet this is an amazing view during the day.”

“Don’t tempt me,” Cohen joked. “The view is pretty amazing from where I’m standing right now.”

My face flushed as I glanced over my shoulder at him. He was leaning against the open doorframe of the balcony, looking at me as though I was a juicy steak he wanted to devour.

A devious smirk curved his lips as he sauntered over to me. He caged me between his arms against the balcony railing and leaned in until his mouth was mere centimeters from mine. “Should I take you here first or the bed?” He nipped at my lips. “Because I plan on fucking you on every surface of this room before the night’s over.”

My sex clenched from his words, and I instantly got wet. I placed my hands on his chest as my heart raced, eager for his next move. “Here. Now.”

Cohen growled right before crushing his lips to mine. He slipped his tongue in my mouth as he began to remove my clothes, and soon we were naked with various pieces of clothing strewn around us on the balcony floor.

Cohen hoisted me up, propping me on the balcony railing. We were on the ninth floor, and a rush of fear ran through me at the possibility of falling.
