I yank the door open and turn down the hall to see her crying in my father’s arms. Ooh, I’m fucked. The one thing you never do is make a woman cry, not like this. When I made my sister upset and cry, Damien tied my hands behind my back and let them beat the fuck out of me.
“Pregnant?” Damien quirks a brow as he lifts my wife from the ground when she collapses.
“Did you just knock my wife out?” I snarl, stepping forward to take her from him.
“No. Get her down to your mom.” He drops her into my arms and I look at him like he’s lost his fucking mind. “She’s had kids, take her down there.” The look Damien gives me in return kicks my stupid ass in gear, obeying my stupid father like I always do.
Carrying Cordelia downstairs I see Cara, Maci, and Mom sitting in her office, all three of them jump to their feet when I walk in with my unconscious wife. “What’d you do to her now?” Maci scoffs, rushing to our side.
“Nothing. I just think she’s exhausted.” I say moving past Maci.
“Then take her to bed.” Cara says, like I’m an idiot.
“Dad said to bring her to Mom.” I shrug, laying her down on the couch in Mom’s office.
“Why?” Mom asks, pulling her hair up out of the way.
“She’s pregnant and not taking it very well.” I say, as I run my finger over her lips, the cute bow with the beautiful pink shade that is uniquely her. I will burn the world down and dance on the ashes with her, every fucking day of my life if that’s what she wants. If she wants to bathe in the blood of men who wrong women, then I’ll gladly hold them down while she slices into them.
“Pregnant?” Cara sighs, “How did you respond?” They ground me out of the way, getting to Cordelia.
“I asked her if she was sure, then told her that she and the baby aren’t going anywhere.” I reply, feeling a little bored with all the questions.
“Oh perfect, question her about it then tell her sorry bitch your life is mine now, way to go little bro.” Cara stifles a laugh, “You’re gonna owe her a huge apology when she wakes up. Better start thinking about how you’re going to get her to forgive you.”
“Forgive me?”
“We all know she didn’t want kids, she told me and I told them. Which means you made this happen, and then you tell her that she’s stuck here.” Maci punches me in the arm as Cara keeps talking. “You really fucked up this time.”
“I did not fuck up. She’ll get over her antics and learn to love the child.”
“Get the fuck out.” I hear Damien from the office door say to me. “You have a lot to learn about women, Son.”
“New baby! So exciting.” Lincoln pops up around my father and moves through to stand with Mom as I walk towards Dad.
Kenan stands out in the foyer and nods for me to follow him, so I do, because fuck all that excitement. They can watch her for now, I have our whole lives to keep an eye on her. “Dude, you put a baby in her?” He asks, shutting his bedroom door after we walk into it.
“Of course I did. I told you she was mine in the car ride to the warehouse.” I lean against his dresser as he bounces back onto his bed.
“I just found some information I think you might want to know.” He says pointing to a yellow folder beside me on the dresser. I pick it up and flip it open, “Her friend from the bar has a missing person case open on Cordelia, apparently she’s been missing for a while now.” He laughs, lighting a cigarette.
“I thought you stopped smoking?” I ask.
“Nah, been smoking since you went inside for me.” Kenan inhales, propping himself up on the bed by his elbows. As I read through the information, I noticed my name in the report too. What the fuck?
Cordelia Lilith Crawford last seen at work with Axel James Mazitti. Mr. Mazitti has recently been released from prison after a five year span for narcotics. His first offense he pleaded guilty. Sources say that he took the plea to keep the investigation from seeking out the truth of the Mazitti family. The truth behind the Mazitti family, that is where I’ll focus this story, where we will learn what’s hidden behind castle walls, where no one has come back from that doesn’t work for them. Is Cordelia dead? Is she now one of them? Only time will tell, and I will get to the bottom of this.
“Where’d you get this?” I ask, flipping through more information about us.
“From the reporter's computer. I tried to erase it all, but I couldn’t do it remotely.” Kenan inhales another drag from his cigarette.
“Did you tell Mom about this?”
“Yup, and the dads have decided that she’s my target.”
I laugh, “Good luck with that, my target ended up being my wife and now mother of my child.”
“That won’t happen. I’ll have a trail of weeping pussies for miles if I keep one for too long.” Kenan chuckles, laying back on the bed. “However, the missing person’s report needs to be handled. You’re going to have to take Cordelia out to see her friends and squash the missing person part of that report. Since she’s not actually missing.”
